the kanji on screen are part of the original video, and they don't have karaoke effects. I like to stay consistent with the original design, so I won't add karaoke effects to anything.

As long as the onscreen text doesn't have it, I won't add it.

"But sure is the most time consuming. Why dont you get the russian subs?"

Cause I care for quality. I won't take some half-assed script timed on who knows what raw.
I do it myself so it will be exactly as I want it.
And I have fun timing.

I don't get them anywhere, I do all the timing, typesetting and styling work myself.

there is no noticeable difference between the encode and the original raw, so what's the point of having a bigger filesize?

You should ask the question about the encoding method to mihaic, but my guess is that your popcorn hour decoder is not up to date or something.

is't this soft-sub like before ? , then why reencode it ?"

Yes, it's still softsubbed, as the file name says. The video was rencoded to reduce the filesize, while keeping pretty much the same quality.

I've said it already, I won't add subtitles to ep 70. That crappy episode is not worth 430Mb of hard disk space.

I won't do 70, stop asking for it

the bars are there to cover the original text, as you will notice if you disable the subtitles. However if the bars show over the lyrics, your player is not rendering the subtitles correctly.

the subs are not "encoded", they're not hardsubbed on the video. They are softsubs, and you need a player that renders them properly. Try downloading this codec pack: http://www.cccp-project.net/

If you see a white bar, that's a problem on your end. You shouldn't see any bar. Get a player that can play softsubs properly.
