I've many a new words in my life time but torrent is new to me. What does it mean?

Hi^^,

Torrent(bittorrent) is basically a p2p sharing protocol, though it can refer to the client too.
Here's a helpfull section explaining some fundamentals(about clients,seeds,peers,ratio,ports,etc);

Torrent is both a noun and a verb.
Torrent can refer a file type/format or p2p protocol.
It can also refer to act of downloading or upload a file or files via BitTorrent.
