| Beginner ![]() | User "chunlee" torrents Is this guy annoying anyone else or do you actually like what he's doing? He basically takes torrents from other anime sites like Boxtorrents, TorrentPhase, Anirena, and even Datorrents itself, adds a ton of public trackers(Pirate Bay, prq.to, ect.) to them and then uploads them here. He's uploaded probably close to a hundred torrents like this in a matter of weeks which has made it somewhat difficult to find genuine new releases amidst all the clutter. The most annoying ones are when he takes Khymer's official torrent releases from this very site and reuploads them here again only days later. Why do we need multiple torrents for the same files? Now you might say "but he's making anime more available to us". Well you can easily find the original torrents using Google so I don't think they're that hard to find. So what do you guys think? "He needs to stop spamming off-site/redundant torrents." OR "Shut up, I love his torrents, let him keep doing his thing." |

| Dreamer through Time ![]() | Well, I'm not aqcuinted with chunlee, so I can't say much about the uploaded torrents, other than there's been a lot of them(?). But I must object a little though, some of those torrents doesn't seem to be found elsewhere(or if they are, they're very well hidden). For example the torrent for 'Genesis Survivor Gaiarth', files by [Exiled-Destiny]. It was asked on the forums, and I did an extensive search for it, and I mean extensive..but no such torrent showed up(Exiled-Destiny doesn't support torrents, so their releases to be torrents they must be uploaded by others). A perhaps a week later I see a torrent with those files been uploaded, by none other than chunlee, and I notify the thread in question in the request section.. Whatever his motives are, some good he's done, at least in this case^^.. Also, I personally prefer local torrents, and alot of his seem to be that as well... Sincerely, Blanchimont

| Venerable Sage ![]() ![]() | Redundant and duplicate torrents are removed when they are spotted - unfortunately if they are spotted nobody seems to notify me! so let me know please about duplicates etc ( linking me to both ). Miles - Torrent Supervisor

| Forum Goderator ![]() | So far, most of the torrents has DATorrents tracker as tier0, and they seem seeded (from testing). Unless they are exact duplicates as torrents from here, then contact dolph. Otherwise, there's no reason for us to remove those torrents.

| Beginner ![]() | @Blanchimont I don't really have a problem with that one because it's a fairly obscure show but never the less the "Genesis Survivor Gaiarth" torrent he posted is indeed from BoxTorrents: see link. If you put "Genesis Survivor Gaiarth torrent" into Google, it's the first result. You may not have been able to find it before because it had only been posted two days before chunlee reposted it here. As a side note, the disparity between tracker hits is almost comical: Box 5,691 vs. DaT 97. @dolphinm Here's some of the more recent duplicates [KH] Enspelled original: http://www.datorrents.com/torrents-details.asp?id=24163 duplicate: http://www.datorrents.com/torrents-details.asp?id=24267 [KH] The Venus Files original: http://www.datorrents.com/torrents-details.asp?id=23524 duplicate: http://www.datorrents.com/torrents-details.asp?id=24193 [KH] Depravity original: http://www.datorrents.com/torrents-details.asp?id=17284 duplicate: http://www.datorrents.com/torrents-details.asp?id=24138 There's more but I mainly just want someone with authority to tell him to do a search before he uploads stuff that's already here. |

| How do you look at the torrent file to see the originating tracker? This one looks as it sourced Boxtorrents as well http://www.datorrents.com/torrents-details.asp?id=24613 and Dattorrents shows up more than once in it as well.

| Venerable Sage ![]() ![]() | The problem I have is that chunlee has done his torrents correctly - with a good description and screenshots etc - whereas the ones he has duplicated have nothing! I may possibly remove the originals if they are not improved after I have pm'ed the uploader but in the meantime they both stay - all congrats to chunlee for doing it correctly! - I am consulting with the "bosses" as to whether I should remove the original or leave both up until they have improved their descriptions (which I favour as the original is from the fansubbing group) Miles

BTW, now that I’ve dared to question his greatness, Mr. “does it correctly” has decided to throw a tantrum on the tracker and is voting "1"s for everything and harassing people like so: http://www.datorrents.com/torrents-details.asp?id=24589 http://www.datorrents.com/torrents-d...s.asp?id=24566 http://www.datorrents.com/torrents-details.asp?id=24563 http://www.datorrents.com/torrents-details.asp?id=24564 I can’t believe you’d side with an immature, attention-whoring scab like chunlee over someone like Khymer, who has been providing this site with quality original content for almost two years. But hey, if that’s your decision then good luck to you. You might also want to change the name of the site from “datorrents.com” to “boxtorrentsmirror.com”. Edit: Sorry, that last part came out a little harsher than I intended but I'll let it stand as is. Last edited by strangeways; 08-09-2007 at 02:29 PM. | ||

| Administrator ![]() | Well, this user is doing something because the hashes aren't he same. Our tracker does check info hashes to see if there is a duplicate so there's a good chance he's providing extra information and things of that nature to make it better. From the looks of it, even if he just simply downloaded it and repackaged it, they've done a better job on the information provided than that of the original. Thanks, ~Francisco |

| lolikon ![]() ![]() | I'm With Him ... I have to agree with Delta. Also a few other points, you cant really say his torrents are ripoffs of the torrents from box by any means, no mainstream group, be it manga, anime, or music release/rip group, uses boxtorrents for their primary releases. In the end, box users are doing _exactly_ what chunlee is doing, taking someone else's bulk torrent or some group's entire release, and making yet another torrent from it. I can't see why box users would be complaining about chunlee's method when it's the same they use. As well as the fact that chunlee's torrents ( a large portion of them ), are very well done in the fact that I do not have to go hopping to anidb or ann to look up series info. Good descriptions make for good reading. I will agree that posting duplicates of stuff already on the datorrents tracker, does cause a bit of a headache, and more work for the people involved. But usually ( again a large portion of them), these torrents are so well done compared to the originals. Not taking away anything from the original posters, just that its easier for me to look at a torrent with all of that information, as compared to just the series name, and a link to anidb. I think in the end they do more to augment the original torrents than to replace them. ~ ~ ichigo
