Oddity concering UL/DL #'s

Last night I decided to try to pad my UL/DL numbers a bit by seeding a few files and set my upload limit to unlimited and set my connections to 4. This usually results in some big gains in my ratios. Well, after running all night, I had ratios from 3.0 to 9.0 for all three files and shut down uTorrent. Today, looking at my datorrents profile shows nothing but the same numbers I've had for days!

One of the files only used datorrents as it's tracker, another had da and another tracker and the third had multiple trackers. Even as a worst case, I should have some additoonal upload and download numbers...I did download the files that I was serving.

I just don't want to go through hassles or even getting a perma ban if my numbers aren't even going to show up on my profile even though I have been serving regularly since my ratio ban last week...

How did you shutdown uTorrents? Just closing the window often results in lossing your stats. I usually click update tracker then wait a few seconds and the click stop. I then wait for the upload and download rates display in the lower right corner to drop to 0.0 before closing it.

The tracker has been glitchy for a while now. The ratio updating issue has been brought up before. The ratio updates normally most of the time. Try stoping and restarting your torrents once in a while, so you don't lose all the stats if you happen to stop torrents in the few minutes timespan when the tracker is down.

Well, I just highlighted the 3 torrents and clicked remove and followed up with the confirmation. I never actually shutdown utorrent...it's one of the few icons I will allow to remain in my taskbar ^_^ uTorrent, Cacheman, Speedfan, and Avast are the only non-OS icons allowed.

I will try the update tracker on the bigger seeds I do, but that's actually what made me want to do a real test like last night. I have been hitting update tracker occasionally on my datorrents to try to boost my numbers yet they don't budge - my thoughts were that you may need to seed for many hours so that was what last night was about.

In actuality though, manually updating tracker should not be needed since it is automatically done every 30 minutes or something via utorrent, all other clients too I'm sure. It's just utorrent and bittornado are some of the few that let you manually do it.

Oh well, I will keep trying and hopefully I can get some higher numbers to show up. Thanks.

The stats only reflect what you download/seed when connected to the datorrents tracker, so anything you download/upload when connected to another tracker does not go towards your stats.

Well next time stop the torrent first and then remove it. If you remove the torrent without stopping it first it might not record your stats, I say might because I don't use uTorrent but if it doesn't give the tracker the proper stop command before it removes the torrent your stats won't update as it will think you are still downloading/seeding the torrent. A way to test this is to start downloading/seeding another torrent, check your profile to make sure the torrent shows up, remove the torrent (don't stop) like you just did, check your profile and see if it still shows up as you downloading/seeding the torrent. As soon as a torrent is properly stopped it instantly disappears from your profile and the torrent stat page.

If anybody sees themselves showing up as downloading/seeding a torrent they are not anymore, then you are not stopping your torrents properly and because of that your stats won't record.
