Not impossible.

It's not impossible. That is a falsehood. Everyone can have a 1 to 1 ratio. All they have to do is try. If they can't thay don't belong here. There are other sites they will be happy with DA isn't one of them.

First seed has an infinite ratio; that makes it impossible for every single other user to have a 1-1 ratio or higher. The math is pretty simple here. For one person to upload more than he downloads another person has to download more than he uploads.

On some of the really, really well seeded private trackers it's actually damn well near impossible to get a 1-1 ratio. There are sooooo many seeds that you literally have to leave a torrent open for weeks just to get a 1-1 ratio.

Less of a "problem" on trackers that don't enforce registration though.

Virtual dedicated servers obviously don't have dedicated bw. But they usually hover somewhere around 5mbps with a 1mbps cap on each connection. I think it's a pretty good (and cheap) idea if you like uploading a lot. You do have to custom code a few things though. If I'm not a student right now I'd probably set one up for myself.

One thing you can try is re-seeding something you already downloaded that is tracked here.

One good re-seed can help bump your ratio up. As time goes on that bit of extra upload will help ballance your downloads that have not fully re-seeded.

While we do acknowledge that it is technically impossible to keep a 1:1 ratio for everybody, we are trying to encourage/motivate everybody to contribute as much as they can. And, in general, as far as this tracker goes, with the amount of new leechers everyday, its not that hard to find a torrent that needs seeding.

We're not an entirely private tracker, neither are we a totally open anonymous/public tracker that doesn't care how much people download/upload. Yes, you can download way faster than you can upload on truly popular torrents, but if you leave it open after you've finished downloading, you will reach a 1:1 ratio, or close to it, eventually. Or, as Konrad says, reseed when the seeds run out. That way, you won't have to find leechers to help boost your ratio.

It's goes un-said that 1 to 1 is the ideal. Some people are a little short of that. They are not the ones getting a ban though. It's the hit and run leech artists that believe they are the exception to the rules that do. The rule is fuzzy. The people who make that decision can view lots of data to make the call.

I still assert that a 1 to 1 is possible for everyone who desires to try for it. Yes it might take you some time. So what?

I am off on a short cruise. Everyone play nice. I'll be back lurking in a few days.

Here are some sure fire ways for maintaining a UL/DL ratio greater than 1-to-1:
  • You can create your own stuff and share it.
  • You can keep an eye out for requests for old stuff that is no longer available.
  • You can download stuff from distro servers and beat everyone else to sharing it.
Do this enough, and you can easily have a 200-to-1 UL/DL ratio or even higher. And I speak from experience.

As jinjin say, just upload your stuff but don't upload a thing that is not dead or your torrent will end up been deleted.........
Just like Mad, have say we provide a tracker for you to share your staff, and not asking any money from you people that uses this service...We only want leecher to keep a ratio 1:1 just asking you to upload equally with your download.

They just want to dl and be done with it. Kazaa/Imesh etc trained them to be dirty little leechers so they brought it over to Torrent.

Personally I found it easy to keep my ratio high when I was dsl even with my crappy upload.
Thank god I got cable now but I tell ya quite a few hours of uploading to keep a 1.0 ratio. Its easy its just about how much time is it gonna take to get there which most people wont wanna wait.

simple. just grab a popular torrent, and let it go for a couple weeks. i know its kind of a drag, but then you will get some buffer space, and ppl will be happy that they could get said file. of course this dosnt mean you can leech till you get a warning again ...
