| Dreamer through Time ![]() | Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (softsubs?) Just wondering if there's any interest for a softsub version of "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni"(first season) of the FANSUB version?... Except for the softsub of episodes 1-3 by [WIND](which I haven't been able to find btw...), the releases by [WIND], [Triad] and [Ayu] were all hardsubs... However I do have since previously the [Ushi]-release(finnish softsubs), and in contrast to the above who use XviD, this one's H264/AVC... So, I could combine the "raws" obtained from the [Ushi] release with the subs ripped from one of the english versions to create a softsub alternative of first season of Higurashi... [cLT] and [Arigatou] has stalled the DVD-rips and [Exiled-Destiny] has dropped it, meaning a dual-audio/softsub version is not near in the future, so I thought if anyone was interested in me doing this?... Which subs would be the best, [WIND], [Ayu] or [Triad]?... Sincerely, Blanchimont

| Spammer ![]() | I liked the Triad's subs over Ayu's for the first season, their translation was excellent and the subs had good "flow" with very few editing errors. If anyone's wonder about the lack of progress of R1 DVD-rips, Higurashi was one of the series affected by Geneon USA's shutdown -- the DVD release was cancelled after the third disc, which is why no DVD-rip group has released beyond episode 14. |

| Dreamer through Time ![]() | Also, apparently I didn't check sources too good previously, as the episodes 16-26 released by [Ayu] actually were from the DVDs... Of the [Ushi]-releases, only the first three were based on DVDs, so it's other way around. I guess I have to make some comparisons quality-wise between these releases to determine if there's a point doing this. A softsub DTV-source against hardsub DVD-source, basically...of course there's the issue whether the TV-version was edited, and if so, to what extend? Funny thing though, only one episode without a viable DVD-version, episode 15... I COULD theoretically use the raws extracted from the DVD-rips instead from [Ushi]'s , for episodes 1-14....if it weren't for the fact that abandoned incomplete series are pretty hard to find working torrents for... I could also use the DVD-based avi-version by [HKG&X2](no subs, not the .rmvb-version...) as I found a somewhat working torrent for that...however that would mean deciding against the H264-encodes used by [Ushi]. I can't tamper with the video-encodes themselves myself as I lack the necessary experience/knowledge, I just have to use the "raws" 'as is'... Sincerely, Blanchimont
