just registered, and confused

hi, i just registered as a member at datorrents (the website and the forums), and i'm a little confused about something. you see, i just recently got into this BitTorrent stuff, and I also just recently figured/found out that I should seed stuff that i leech..

and before i ever registered on this site, i leeched something off of it.. i mean i was uploading at the same time i was downloading, except i was downloading at a much faster rate of course. and i did this w/o realizing what the heck "seeding" and "leeching" meant, and that I should should seed more after i finish leeching.

and you see, i'm still a little new to this, and I don't want to be banned or anything (even though i wasn't a user at the time i leeched, i figured my ip number would just get me banned anyway).

So, i wanted to make up for my leeching by seeding more of the thing i downloaded, except under my profile at the regular datorrents site it doesn't state how it doesn't state how much i've downloaded or uploaded.. i actually know how much i've downloaded from this site, because i've only downloaded one torrent and i know how big it is.. except i don't know how much i've uploaded, and i want to upload the correct amount, since i've already uploaded some.

so can anybody explain how i should go about this?
does this clear profile mean that somehow my status about how i had downloaded and uploaded from this site has magically erased? or, can an administrator give me the amounts?

and btw, just a general question, but what is the required ratio here after leeching?

They say a ratio of 1 is needed, but I doubt you will eb banned for anything below .6 in total ratio. There is no gaurantee for that though.

What you download without an account is tracked per torrent basis, so if you havn't gotten banned, then you won't get banned from that torrent at all by now most likely. Anything prior to the account isn't figured with the account, so making up for it won't be listed in the same place in the logs... Just keep a good ratio from now on...

What is your user name on the tracker? Yes you should definitly seed what you leech or it is quite possible to get banned. Amounts you've downloaded and uploaded before becoming a register user will not be recorded in your account. For registered users the tracker updates your account stats each time you disconnect from a torrent. It should be noted that it is usually not wise to disconnect from the tracker by just closing your bittorrent client as there is a good chance your stats for the session will be lost. Always click your client's stop button before closing your bittorrent client.


Generally you should seed back at least as much as you download, a 1.00 ratio.
There is not an exact cut off for what ratio under 1.00 will get you banned as other factors are taken into consideration like how much you've uploaded and downloaded. If you want to be safe just assume anything under 1.00 is fair game. As a registered user you will be warned the first time your ratio gets too low and given a chance to bring it up. Make sure you check your account at least once a week as, any warning or important messages from the staff will appear under the "Your Account" section after you've logged in.
