problems connecting to IRC

i am using mIRC

i put in irc.deltaanime.net

and for channel i put in #datorrents-chat

and it keeps giving the error

Connect retry #2 irc.deltaanime.net (6667)
-
* Unable to resolve server

did i miss anything?

was i supposed to put in a different port other than 6667? or a password?

I would try a higher port like 6668 or 6669

/server irc.deltaanime.net 6668 -j #datorrents-chat

Shouldn't need a password unless you register your nick name. Fair warning though, that channel isn't particularly active anymore.

and

/server irc.deltaanime.net 6669 -j #datorrents-chat

still no luck. a different server worked which loaded when i reinstalled the program so some servers "can" load

Sounds like they are having issues then. Any idea which server it was?

you mean the one that loaded? it was the AGNPH one however their irc is full of not too smart people who ban people for dumb reasons ie. someone starting trouble at you and he/she gets away with it cus the admins there play favorites and arnt too bright. other than that basicly i put in everything by copy and pasting it. ill try again tomorrow.

I have not been able to connect to irc.deltaanime.net for days now. What is up? I am not a IRC newbie with something configured wrong. is DaIRC nomore?

You're not the only one unable to connect. All I got was 'the server is down' when I asked what was about. IIRC the servers were getting DDoS'd just before this downtime, that may be related or not. Its a shame daIRC has only one client server ATM. I doubt very much its end of daIRC. Just be patient.

On a side note searchirc.com has an uptime/userload graph (click the graph to switch from weekly, monthly, yearly, daily)

Basically there was a DDOS on the nameservers that are used to resolve the dairc/deltaanime.net irc addresses, and DaTorrents too ... hence why the site was appearing offline off and on for a period of time. Everything seems to be back to normal though
