Diablo 3?

So does anyone know if there is any truth to the rumors of Blizzard developing the next installment in the Diablo series?

I used to burn us Diablo 2 and there are still plenty of others still playing online but It would be awesome if there were truth to the rumors ^_^

A lot of the people responsible for Diablo I & II have since left Blizzard, in fact several of them did Hellgate London. Blizzard has shown some renewed interest in StarCraft with StarCraft II, and this development tract looks very similar to that of Warcraft's. That is taking a 2D RTS to 3D then MMO.

All we know is that Blizzard is indeed working on another MMO.

I don't think blizzard would be dumb enough to make another MMO from one of their cash cows, it would split their userbase.

The big 3 they have, everyone I know enjoyed all of them so people would end up picking one or the other. But, if they did a D3 but in the same style, it could do pretty good. Going first person with it would kill it im sure and just make it feel like WoW.

it would be awesome if diablo 3 (i hope they are developing this) look a lot alike elder scrolls 4, but with the multiplayer option.....

Hopefully, the new MMO won't be the next game in the Diablo franchise. Raiding the Prime Evils would ruin the feel of the game(the lone hero against great evil thing).

It looks like Diablo 3 is going to be an MMO afterall: Blizzard Entertainment - Employment Opportunities

The first line form the job post kind of gives it away: "Blizzard Entertainment, the developer of Diablo and Diablo II, is looking for a lead 3D environment artist skilled at creating models and texture maps for both architectural and natural environments."

Just because they mention two of their previous titles in a job ad means nothing.

It just seems strange to me that they would mention those two older games instead of the more recent Warcraft III or WOW.

I see no problem in having mentioned two older titles that preceded this supposed sequel. In fact, I'm glad they didn't say "Blizzard Entertainment, creator of great games such as World of Warcraft" because that would instantly turn me off. Plus, for some of us old school gamers, we would probably rather think about Diablo rather than WoW.
