| Beginner | The Old Gringo discovered this manga series a couple of years ago and it inspired him to actually learn a little (very little) Japanese to decipher the goings on within. I was surprised to find no seemed to know about it in this Ecchi-intensive place. The first sixteen chapters are available in translation from Tamascans (Tama-Chan Scans) but the series has 16 volumes and 174 collected chapters out now. If I can figure out how, I'll post nine or so pages from Chapter 164 to give you an idea of what it's like and how good my shot at translating it is. It will go in the Ecchi section of the gallery. I do have raw scans of most of the series, and all sixteen volumes. If you look it up in Wikipedia, there is an article. I wrote most of it. This is mostly a high school comedy-romance, and the fact that VIZ is publishing Ichigo 100% next month gives me hope for an authorized translation one of these days. Until then, is anyone interested in this? Be warned: In spite of this being a school that actually trains prostitutes, there is very little explicit sex and less fan service than in Negima! The Old Gringo Old Gringo at 50 Megs Polluting the web since 1998. PS: The Japanese title is 都立水商! Paste it in your search engine if you have Japanese fonts loaded (and I'm sure you do.) |

| Beginner | Well, I see some views of the pages I've posted, but no feedback yet. If there's anyone interested at all, I'm actually translating Lesson 164 page-by-page now. The process I use is: 1: Transcribe the original text into html using good old Word. 2. Feed the transcription into Google, Babelfish, and Jim Breen's site 3. Out of the results, try to make some sense of it. Breen is the best for actually looking up words--and names, it has a very comprehensive name dictionary. I'm sure many of you out there could do better. If you're interested, I have a lot of chapters transcribed for you to chew on. The Old Gringo |

| Beginner | I've posted three complete chapters of SOWB now and no one has responded. This is somewhat discouraging. Maybe its because this is an ecchi series, but not all that ecchi. I've translated quite a lot more, sort of, but I have translation notes, not scanlations. I didn't have a place to post scanlations until now. Well, at least Larry King has Michael Moore instead of Paris Hilton on now. Right now I'm hung up in the middle of Chapter 167 on some apparently impenetrable jargon. I'd like to go with something a little better than a wild guess. Maybe I should just leave those parts untranslated. Who knows? Maybe somewhere out there someone will actually read this stuff and give me a little help. The Old Gringo |

| Beginner | Hey, you're just like me... sorta. I started translating 'coz, one day, I realized I recognized "arigatou" in Hiragana. That spurned me to take a stab at translating. My first few translations were kinda rough; but after almost 2 years of doing this, I think I'm getting better at it! Good luck on your endeavors! Sorry, can't help you here.

| Beginner | Your pic files are missing? Now I know why the torrent has stopped downloading at 74.6%. I have enjoyed reading the translations of the manga series. But sadly Tama-Scans has recently lagged on for months. The reason is, they are still looking for translators on that project since the translator for SOWB has quitted. I wonder why don't you join Tama-Scans staff and help them? I am still wating for their next update on School of Water Business forever. |
