| Beginner | Concerning how the tracker works... Okay, first off let me apologize for my total n00bness here. I'm sorry, this is the first time i've ever used torrent files/programs before ; ; So, I now have utorrent and wish to begin downloading files. The LAST thing I want is to end up banned because I don't know what the heck I'm doing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in order for this to work I need to: 1. Register a username/password @ datorrents.com (I have done so), 2. Remain logged in to datorrents while downloading files, 3. Not be a dastardly leecher. Is that all there is to it? If there is something more I need to do, pls let me know. I look forward to being a positive part of this community ^^. Tnx, all |

| Senior Staff | The only comments I would make are: You're strongly encourage to give back what you take, but at this point there isn't any banning taking place on the tracker. Also you don't need to login every time you download since stats are no longer tracked. That's not to say you should never login, if a torrent supervisor needs to get a hold of you about something on the tracker the message will most likely be sent to your tracker account via PM. Also accounts that haven't been logged into in 3 months are considered inactive and subject to deletion. Enjoy, and welcome DaTorrents. You can also join us on iRC @ irc.deltaanime.net #datorrents has bots you can direct download from #datorrents-chat to chat with other members #thestaff should you need assistance. |

I really hope that's what you mean. After all, I have some 45 different torrents that I'd really like to take off and burn to disk to clear drive space, but until I achieve at LEAST 1.5 upload ratio, I won't remove them... heck, I suspect some of them aren't even supported by the original trackers, it's been so long since someone pulled from my copies, but there they stay. For reference, this is my first post here. I have had an account with datorrents for some time (without understanding I was supposed to leave my account window open to be shown as actively seeding), but when I started to be concerned (today) about banning, I figured I'd better get an account for the forums. Thanks for readin... till later. Ja ne! Asuka Jr. | ||

| Senior Staff | Yep, DaT hasn't banned anyone on the tracker since at least October. So I wouldn't be too concerned about getting banned. When we were banning users it was the more egregious offenders. People who stayed around 1.0 had little worry about. So if you're seeding to 1.5 you're good.
