*Dims the room and turns on a flashlight in front of the face.* Salutations everyone. Just a reminder that the month of October is upon us which means Halloween is just round the corner. If you could share a ghost story or two that will be great cuz I am really in the mood for it. What I like about this website is that we each come from different ethnic/cultural backgrounds so everyone of us has a tale to tell. I m looking forward to reading them. I encourage everyone to tell the story to the best of your ability without skimping on the details. In the meantime, I ll post mine in a later account. I also ask everyone for a favor. Later; before you get to bed, make sure to look around every nook and cranny of your room because you never know whats lurking behind the shadows. Let the mayhem begin and I ll read you later. Its not so popular in Hungary Halloween... but i will dig up a story just for you.

The only thing comes to my mind is the night after my grandma died. All night i felt like if someone is whit me, but when i looked around in the room there was no one in there. I newer forget it... i could hears someone breath and sometimes creak of the wooden floor. Thanks to god it only lasted for 1 day but i still remember it... even after more then 10 year.

It is not so great story but still its ghostlike...

PS i never felt like that again even when my other grandma and two grandpa died. Strange... anyway my mom said that i was grandmas fav... maybe thats why.

An aquiantance of mine told me stories about her in connection with the supernatural. Sorry I cant reveal names at this time because I like to keep things strictly confidential.

Its started when she was around fourteen years old. She had a dream where there was a girl wearing 1800s style of clothing. The next part is that there was someone waving at a distance and there was some sort of tiger in the background.

Suddenly, she appeared in a washroom where she threw up on a nearby toilet stall. She then saw a ladder leading upwards close to it. When she got up the ladder that lead through a hole in the ceiling of the washroom, she saw a another young girl.

It was that same girl who was wearing 1800s clothing earlier. She then walked closer to the girl, it showed evidence that she was brutally raped and murdered. There was also a name at around the girls' clothing and she was called "Mary Smith." My aquiantance woke up from her sleep.

There were also bizarre dreams that she kept on telling me about. Now she couldnt even get a decent amount of sleep lately. She felt like someone or something is watching her from the shadows.

In my opinion, my aquiantance was Mary Smith in her previous life. Mary Smith, is now trying to tell her that she wont rest until her captors where bought to justice. I know this may sound cliche to some of you but it couldnt be far from the truth if you think about it.

I only have one ghosty encounter. It happened when I was still in HS and was a techie for the drama department.
Me and 2 other people were the only people left in the school and I had the only set of keys for the basement where all the props and costumes were kept. We had gone down the basement to grab a few things for the play we were working on and while we were down there we started hearing people talking (which made absolutely no sense since we were the only people at the school). After some investigation we found that the voices seemed to be coming from inside some room behind a door Problem...the door was locked up and permanently sealed. But we distinctly heard voices coming from the other side. While listening at the door we heard a crash come from the other side of the basement and costume racks started falling over. We ran up the stairs to leave because we were really scared, but we could get out. Somehow we were locked in. (Remember...I was the only one with keys.) We ran back downstairs and after some freaking out decided to try the door again. This time we could get out. It was the scariest thing ever and we went home immediately.
Anywho...that's my story...I found out a couple years later while searching for local haunted spots that apparently that basement is supposed to be haunted and I'm convinced it is cuz there's no other way to explain what happened to me that night.

I ve read some folklorist stories when I was a kid. One of the monsters that stood out the most was called the "mananggal" meaning "to separate" in English.

The monster is very notorious among the rural villages of the Philippines. They are known to take the form of a beautiful woman during the day and becomes a very bloodthirsty monster by night.

What it does is that it goes to a hidden part of the village and separates itself from its body by sprouting bat like wings and flies off hunting for its next prey.

It hunts by flying off to the rooftops, takes its long, lance like tongue out, and pierces the sleeping victim through the neck while feasting on their blood. They are also known to break through the window and carries the sleeping victim into a nearby forest where it feasts on the victim's innards. Afterwards, the monster gathers up materials like sticks, rocks, leaves, etc. and create the life like replica of the victim. The clone then walks back to the victim's home where it dies off upon reaching its destination. The mananngal prefers to feast on the weak and the sick, children, and pregnant women.

Villagers hide a sharperned knife underneath their pillows in to cut its tongue when the monster attempts to feast on them. Village chiefs also assign volunteers to patrol around the village area to look for the lower half of the monster. Once they find it, they sprinkle and throw salt on it then they await for its return by hiding themselves in strategic points of the village. This ensures their chances of capturing the monster. As soon as the monster returns, it cant return to its normal self due to the salt sprinkled on the lower half. The volunteers surround the monster where its killed off immediately by stabbing a spear made of bamboo into the heart.

Sigh, its too bad Halloween comes once a year. I still have more stories to tell everyone. Ahh well c'est la vie. There is always next year, right. I ll read you later.
