| Restless Poltergeist | Trivia Game - Cool or Scary? Camel Spiders The order Solifugae is a group of arachnids, containing around 900 species. The name derives from Latin, and means those that flee from the sun. The order is also known by the names Solpugida, Solpugides, Solpugae, Galeodea and Mycetophorae. Their common names include camel spider, wind scorpion, sun spider and matevenados ("deer-killer" - a Mexican nickname). ![]() ![]() ![]() A Camel Spider can run up from 10 - 25 MPH. This bug was named "Camel Spider" from the urban legend that this spiders clung unto the camel's belly and start gnawing it tummy till intestines fallout. In their first bite,there's some kind of Anesthesia Effect on their fangs,making their skin numb. There are also reports of humans attacked by Camel Spiders (not direct but secretive). An american soldier's feet was almost skinned coz the Camel Spider hiding in his sleeping bag was gnawing on his feet for all night). It mainly feeds on Lizards,Frogs,some insects and bugs - including scorpions. This Camel Spiders grow up more than a size of a dog and can kill a camel,horse and cow. When the time of laying eggs came, they go to a cave like spot and stay there away from sun. They make webs as their gate security. And guess what? Researchers have found out that a single web string of Camel Spiders is as strong as a dental floss which can rip an animal's flesh when trapped in it. Posts: 19 | I'm normally prefer to throw isnects outside the house before killing them (with the exception of mosquitos), but if I came across one of those... squish. No second thoughts, no remorse. those things are too fricken huge and dangerous to feel sorry for, or at least that's what I think. *shudder* |

| Restless Poltergeist | Heh, im so thankful those spiders dont exist in my country. Why? Ive just read bout a Fact regarding on the Camel Spider Eggs. One tiny contact of its eggs with water and it will cause to hatch,hence that's the main reason why they live in desert. If they start moving to the rainy spot,population boom of Camel Spiders would occur.
