My vote is emphatically yes.
Still, even if you don't think that ratios enforce sharing, you know for sure that it makes people go and upload files. That is still a positive thing - even if they swing it around on other people. Does them saying anything bother you that much?

EDIT: Does that also mean that the number of seeders/leechers have been also displaying the wrong numbers?

No torrents being deleted and annoymous tracker use will just take more memory. Maybe it's just that I feel that the current tracker problems should be solved first before anything is added.

Also, because I serve small files (I translate for School Rumble), there's no way I can ever seek and destroy people not seeding.

EDIT: Did ratios disappear just now? For this? If the change has already been implemented, that kinda takes away the reason we're having a vote >_>

We've done a temp fix to the tracker so it can run a little better, which required us to turn off ratios/peer listings.

..If there'd be no need for users.. What will become of the staff that edit and check for descriptions and things? =/ And malicious files?

To be honest you will lose my monthly donation if you go this way. Private is better in my book and I voted no. All you will do is become just one more supper leech fest. Don't try and be what others already are established as. All the leechers are going to out vote us folks with decent ratios. So I see the site going down hill and not being a community at all anymore.

I voted on undecided, cause over all despite reading everything I still don't understand some of the pros and cons, but what I did understand (assuming I did).

You'll have more links for downloads and the ratio probably gone and more leechers is a possible scale of going up (thinking in crime rate going up kinda way).

Over all not sure how it affects me at this time since I seed more than I download but been finding some things here and there of late to get. Also not sure but I migh have to learn how to get torrents on new set up or it not accessible yet.

Had I said Yes its cause I'm not against new things but have feeling I'd lean more to No cause something in my head is saying "sounds like trouble". That is why my vote is undecided for now. Sorry I couldn't be more help on the issue.

I'm gonna agree with everything Kirarin said.

And some people (like me) might not even know enough about their client to tell who the leechers are.

No torrents would be deleted either since the system doesn't do a 'cleanup' like our current one.

Nothing would stop us from making a 'request seeders' part on there, where it would display on the side menu of 'how many people have asked for a reseed' on a list of torrents, with a full list being present on click.

Heck, we could even make a 'filling' type idea, where people would recieve points towards whatever we can think of, if they fill a users seed request.

we're building this, more or less, from the ground up so we can develop whatever we think is good.

As was pointed out to me before, there would be a greater call for TS as there would be a lot more fake/not allowed/virus ridden torrents to got through, so all of the LPO would become TS.

There would also be a lot more torrents to delete because there would be no seeds remaining, and as we all know, old torrents are deleted. I know old torrents are not automatically deleted, but are you saying when there hasn't been movement on a torrent for over 3 months, it'll still show up in searches?

People will not want to do the LPO job for them. Just because they see one user uber leeching from them, that does not mean they are an uber leecher overall. And don't underestimate people being petty and reporting others for a comment they disagree with.

And what can people be offered? VIP status..? As far as I know, that doesn't offer any extra perks at the moment anyway.

Vote is looking pretty close at the moment. What if no is the overriding choice?

H.

I had to go undecided. Despite the many hours spent on line, etc. I still don't understand a lot of the tech involved, therefore I'll leave the decision to those who understand such things.

define what ya' mean by private.

DAT isn't fully private. Moving to fully private would be an option (it would fix the ratio issues, etc), but then users won't want to track on us.
