| I haven't been a long-term registered user and it never made a difference before I registered. After I registered, the ratio system was nothing but a headeache as it wouldn't properly track my uploads/downloads. From my perspective, the ratio system is more of a negative than a positive. A nice idea perhaps, but subject to the same problems as any other internet application. It's impossible to get rid of leechers. This is particularly the case for torrents that enable DHT so that the torrent can continue to function, even if the tracker goes down (it's also used to circumvent some firewalls). So, while you can ban IPs all day long, it won't keep a torrent from running out of seeds, even if you have 1:1 ratio users. Intelligent seeding strategies and larger peer clouds accomplish what mere ratios cannot. It's more important to reward good behaviour: seeding and reseeding. A public tracker can still be used to keep track of members, even if you aren't enforcing ratios. Those exhibiting good behaviour can be determined, even if statistics are off, as they'll stand out. They'll be the ones seeding for days, reseeding when requested, and so forth. However the admins might wish to reward them (e.g. fewer avatar/signature restrictions or simple public recognition/reputation), it'll encourage good behaviour amongst those inclined to do such things. | |

| undecided. I lurk a lot and keep a steady, if not great, ratio. Last thing I'd want is after building up a good amount of uploading over a month and grab something as fast as possible be labled a leech. With no way to keep a record of the ratio over time then I'd have no way to really fight the label other then for that one session. | |

| I voted yes. Being a long time user of boxtorrents I know how borked trackers can be. With my shitty connection before I was stuck with a low ratio, even though I was seeding til I was 300% or more. With a faster connection I now have a 300% but I should actually have about a 1200% ratio (thats 12 to 1, or if you want to see it in numbers more understandable 12.000) If you have trackers here and track other sites then you can find anime here and everywhere else at the same time. I'll check mininova, piratebay and jabberwalker because they show a wide variety of sites at once. Leechers are always a problem, but you'll still have a slow connection if no one is connected because they are afraid of bannings. So you get a slow connection because of having one or two seeders, then you get a low ratio because once you are one of those first leechers who turn into seeders, you can't seed the original seeders so you have to wait for another leecher. To put things simply, torrent programs don't work without leechers. Torrent programs make you share the parts you have. Even if a person turned off their torrent program as soon as the files were downloaded, they would have still shared about a third of what they have. So personally I say down with trackers. | |

| Ratios need to go either way because they don't tell the whole story. a few examples would be a torrent with 1 seed 0 peers (not a new one a nearly dead one) a peer leeches 500MB but there is no one to upload to and there may never be. Another one is the more obvious "last seed jumps ship." God I hate the latter as well as the trail of "we're missing less than 1% reseed please" because the idiot leecher couldn't wait 5 minutes longer. Yet ratios also count it aginst us when we give up on a seedless torrent or stop seeding a torrent that hasn't had any peers in days. That ratio should only be used negatively in extreme circumstances and when several torrents are present as seperate ratios with the number of peers. >.< Now that I let out that rant ^.^ We also need an functional FAQ section and a if possible a search function that can be searched using japanese text as that seems to be something that isn't done and an anime is japanese so uhh maybe we need it. Good night everyone. | |

| Pfffffttttt! Damnit, I had written a really long reply but it deleted it by telling me I was not longer logged in. Anyway I am in agreement, only yes and no votes should count; anyone who voted for hentai obviously doesn't care enought to have a real opinion and thus shouldn't count. | |
