Posts: 1,078 | I can, somewhat. (>_>;) I was in my second year, the mid-level, of learning when I had to go Ronin. Sadly, it is a little rusty since I haven't used it in over a year. But, that is only in speech. I have a LONG way to go when it comes to written. I still have some 1,976 kanji characters left to learn before I could get by in everyday life. (T_T) As my desktop pic in the July thread shows, I was already trying to incorperate it into my heavy computer usage. Confused everyone that had to use it. (^_^;)

I know the meanings of words for the most part. I know Watashi means "I" and nihongo means "Japanese Language" and the Wa between them is a particle used to show that the preceeding word is the subject of the sentence, or somethen like that. But I dont understand how it would be read? I am still tryen to learn. | ||

| I am slowly learning the language. Anime is a very mixed way to back up your learning with practice. On one hand it is readily available. On the other, many shows don't use the standard language so you can end up misunderstanding things. Sort of like learning english by watching a combination of music videos, The Simpsons and Futurerama. The constant use of slang, odd terms, and so on can get in the way of learning. Still, if you understand that and make sure to rely on your tradional learning, Anime can be good. It lets you test how much you know. | |
