I'm new and I need some help

I'm new to DaTorrents and I am having a few problems figuring stuff out. I would like to know where to download the client if there is one and I would also like to know what can unpack torrent files.

Any help is greatly apreciated.

Wikipedia about torrents

Short, the torrent file is a link for bittorent clients to know what to download. You can read up more on that link or get a torrent client and just open the torrent file through it without knowing the background. Nice clients include, Azureus, utorrent and bitcomet...

Well, not sure what torrent(s) you are talking about, but there are a few factors that determine how fast a torrent downloads. First, the number of seeds to peers. If there are a low number of seeds and a high number of peers, then it probably won't go very fast since most people don't get the internet connections that allow high upload speeds. There may also be something with a firewall, router, or port that is slowing down the connection. Also, I know from personal experience that if you are uploading a lot it can slow down the downloading speed. But, yeah, kind of hard to say what you mean from a vague statement.

Now that I have all of that cleared up I have another question for anyone who doesn't mind answering it. On Azureus it says I have a ratio of .3 something and that it's bad. Do I upload torrents through Azureus or do I upload them on the site somehow?

Edit: And about the speed of the download, I think it was because there weren't very many seeds.

Regarding your ratio, the higher the better. We'd like everyone to seed a torrent until at 1.00 you can do this by simply leave the client open after your download completes and it will upload it for others. Also when you're read to stop makes you hit the stop button before you close the client or the tracker may loose your stats for the session. Also be aware that we do ban for low ratios, so it something you have to keep an on.

Before you try to upload make sure someone else hasn't already uploaded it.
To upload a torrent you will need both your client and the site. You use your client to create a torrent then upload it to DaTorrents. You can also download the torrent files from other trackers and upload them. To create a new torrent in Azureus, you'll need the URL for the tracker, which is http://tracker.datorrents.com:6969/announce.php you can also get it by logging in to your tracker account and clicking the upload link (which you need to do anyway to upload a torrent) and obviously you'll need have the files you want to upload. To create a new torrent file Goto File -> New Torrent then copy the Datorrents tracker url into the Announce URL box then choose whether or not your going to upload one file or an entire directory of files. Click next and choose the file or directory you want to upload, click next next and choose a location on computer to save the torrent file then click finish. Now that you have a torrent file you need to login to your account and goto the Upload link and where it says Torrent file, browse for the file you just created. You can ignore the NFO file but you will need to fill in the torrent name, a description, and choose the proper catagory. Once you've done that click upload. Your torrent is now on the track and you'll need to start seeding it by leaving your client running at least until others finish downloading and can help seed it. To seed the torrent goto File-> Open -> Torrent File then click "add files" and add the torrent file you created and set the "Add mode" to "seeding". Change the "location to save data" to the location of file or directory you're going to upload and click Ok, you should now be able to seed. It may take a little while before anyone tries to download form you. If you're behind a router you'll need to configure port forwarding to allow incoming connections so you can seed.

hope that helps

About the Azureus ratio, if you are refering to the color coded ratio in the status bar, that ratio is your "Tracker Nuetral" ratio. In other words, it is how much you have download versus how much you have uploaded using the Azureus client.

Does that make sense? (o_O?)
