| I notice that a lot of parents is not open when it comes to their children sexuality........Parents always think that sex is something dirty that only allowed to be talked in a adult conversation.......When children confront them about sex and baby, they will tell them a fair tales....Then how you all parents expect your child to know about sex? I believe that parent should be open about sex with their children....Not telling them some kind of fictional story | |

| Special Member | not all parents are like that, i think, though i never tackled that issue with my old man, and my mom, i know that some parents openly discuss this to their children especially during the child's puberty years...since the child will be curious with their sexuality(like body changes), it would be the best for the parents to tackle this issue right away. however, some parents are very conservative that they see sex as very very disrespect for their family, some even think that to whom ever you made is the one you should marry. this mainly depends on the culture, i read some books about some tribes found in the eastern asia, that adults make love openly in front of everyone, even though there were children watching or playing around them, it seems that in their culture, sex is not a big deal for everyone. sex is sex no matter how you put it, even though there is pleasure, it really means reproduction so people shouldn't think less of the basic idea of reproduction. just do it in the right and proper way and never abuse it. peace. vincent out. |

| Lol! Wouldn't you want to live in one of these tribes? Anyway, yeah, it does have to do with the parents. My dad introduced me to hentai and whatnot... With cultures too. Malaysia, being a Muslim country, would tend to fall more toward the sexually oppressive end of the spectrum. ![]() | |

Posts: 1,078 | Well, while culture is major factor in how open people are about sex, one must also consider how old the kid is. I know I wouldn't be talking about the birds and the bees with a four to six year old. "You can't handle the truth!" But, isn't Sex Ed. and the internet better and less awkward ways of learning the truth? (o_o?)

| RevanFlame's pet | I think sex ed is boring and unhelpful because it is done at too late in a kids life. I started learning about sex and what it was from about 5 years old, and have always been very open with my parents (well, my mum anyway I think my dad still thinks I'm a virgin... ) If children were brought up with a better idea about sex, I think there would be less teenage pregnancy and they would know more about STD's, not just what their friends tell them. Parents probably don't like to talk about your sex life because to be honest, would you want to talk about theirs....? H. |
