| Lutefisk. If you don't know what it is, it is basically any type of whitefish (often cod) that is cooked in lye. That's right: poison. Inexplicably, it is highly popular in Minnesota and Wisconsin, from where much of my family hails. I have been forced to eat it (as a child) twice when we visited there, and once I ate it out of fear of upsetting my grandma when I visited as an adult. Never again. The meal is a big joke amongst Scandinavians. Some love it almost out of a dare. To me, it tastes like ***, and not quality ***, mind you. | Mine, I'd have to say would be pickled cow feet. My grandma loves cow feet. My mom mistook it for being pickled cow feet. So I was forced to try some and it almost made me vomit. WAY to much vinegar, and not of a good kind. |
