There are many places to choose from depending upon the person’s liking. All the states in India have their own culture and tradition. Many tourists from all over the world come here to enjoy the richness of Indian culture, the variety of food, dance forms and admire the architectural grandeur in every place. The South-Indian states of Kerala, Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Andhra-Pradesh are famous for their architecture and monuments. Kerala has a unique style of architecture especially in the temples. All the temples have a sloping roof with a contour. The grandeur of temple architecture can be seen in the Vadakkunathan temple in Thrissur. Thrissur is a central town in the south Indian state of Kerala. Thrissur distance from the nearest airport- Nedumbassery, Cochin is about 78kms. The town is also well connected to other major towns by rail and roadways.It is an ancient town and is called the “cultural capital of Kerala”. The temple is a unique one and is most famous for the Pooram festival. This is the annual festival of the temple and is conducted every year in the month of April-May. This coincides with the Malayalam month of “Medam” or the spring. It is in the time of the year that all the temples have their annual festival. The festival draws crowds from all over the world. The festival is a grand spectacle with decorated elephants, traditional music and fire-works display. The festival is held annually and lasts for two days. It concludes with an impressive fire-works display. |
