Rotating DaT banner on the forums ?

Ok no clue if this goes to even right section.. Feel free to move if its necessary.

Now to the question... I really like most of the images the banner or whatever you want to call it at the upper left of this site. Now, I wanted to add an rotating signature to one of the other forums I use, this DaT rotating image obviously.

So that when people would look at my posts on this other forum, each time my signature would be different. Question is, is this even possible at any way ? If it is, how to do so ?... I tried using

Form with DaTorrents replaced on the url, and image as '' http://datorrents.com/forums/general/rotate.php '' but it's no good, obviously cause rotate.php isn't a form of image xD.

So.. help plox ? .

If you want to use the actual DATorrents banner as your rotating sig you'll probably want to get permission first. If you get the okay, then just use:

[img]http://datorrents.com/forums/general/rotate.php[ /img]

(Minus the space between [ and /img at the end)

It should show up like this.....



You can make a rotating sig with your own images simply enough. All you need is some site to host your files (there are many free ones around), and a php file.

Ah I forgot to mention I wanted the sig also to be clickable, which would redirect you to datorrents.com/forums.. Anyway.. more at below ( now edited so nvm <.< )

Edit : I got reply on the other forum too... The main problem here is that the forum supports only gif and jpg files, so no php there... Which means its nearly impossible for me to do what I want to do.

It is valid image format, this image is just dynamically generated by PHP. It will not work here, because forum settings allow you only to publish images with extensions like .gif or .jpg - .php is not allowed. There is way to solve this problem, but it is kinda complicated and requires access to server with PHP support. Edit: Ah, PHP is not necessary - it can be done just by editing .htaccess files. Anyway, you need WWW server (with mod-rewrite installed) to do it. If you have access to such as server, just create an empty directory somewhere, then create file called .htaccess inside this directory. Content of this file should be:

RewriteRule ^imageredir.gif$ [url]http://datorrents.com/forums/general/rotate.php[/url] [R=301,L] 


Now URL address for your image will be http://yourdomain/directory/imageredir.gif - you will be able to put this URL inside tag

I don't really understand this stuff well, but I was fiddling around and found that this code works:

[url=http://www.datorrents.com/forums][IMG]http://datorrents.com/forums/general/rotate.php[ /IMG][ /URL]

(Once again without the spaces near the slashes).

Anyway, who should I contact about permission of using the banner in first place ? I thought about Shauna, but seeing as she hasn't been on for weeks I don't know if that would be the best choice xD.
