| Beginner | I play DnD, with 4.0 some like it some dont, but the DM really has the final say, so if they can do it, re work it to work for your grp. as to grp sizes, when i was 15 there would be a good 12 people or so, now its more like 3 - 6 mmo's kick butt so now its half DnD and Half mmo's Last edited by toeno : 08-11-2008 at 12:40 AM. |

Posts: 122 | I've played rpgs for a very long time, but the last couple years I haven't been playing due to many factors. Real life and work get in the way, as do relationships (unless both parts of the couple play, which is awesome but rare - only one of my gaming group is in that position). My brother and I had a bit of a falling out (he was the dm) and our group now lives in diverse parts of the U.S. The future looks grim but we might be able to work something out in the next decade. I play some MMOs and computer games, but they are a pretty lackluster replacement for tabletop games. A good gaming group with a competent DM is a glorious thing. When people get together to believe in a communal delusion it takes on a life of it's own and is more real than just one persons imaginings. That's why gaming to me is a serious thing and not a comedic activity. There's room for humor but when the focus of the session is comedy or there are reality breaking elements than it just ruins it for me and I wouldn't care to be involved. 4th edition is a joke. There was no reason to have an edition change other than to make people buy all new books of the campaign settings, class handbooks, etc. The "edition" moniker is just played out at this point they should have just settled for errata and add-on books for 3e (not even 3.5, which I never bought into either). At first even 3e was difficult for us to embrace but the difference between it and 2nd edition is pretty great, so we did eventually pick up 3e. I feel bad for the kids that are just starting to get involved in D&D now with 4e, they are missing out on all of the good writing that WotC rode in on and so does Hasbro or whoever is the one calling the shots now. If you do embrace 4e, have fun buying all new books for 5e, 6e and 7th too.

Posts: 28 | I play DnD 3 and 3.5, some other D20 systems too. 4th makes baby vecna cry. I've played some tri-stat systems and the like before, but not my cup of tea, and d10 systems have way too many...d10.
