| Beginner | Japanaese games? Could anyone point me towards any Japanese games, in which the text is written with kana? As of the game, I would prefer non-hentai games, games with a plotline and not too fast paced as I can't read very quick yet. Any responses will be appreciated. Kinethi |

| Beginner | Tank you, I will have a look around and see if I can find these visual novels. By the name it sounds like it could be exactly what I'm looking for. Kinethi Edit: Seems like a great game, it's just that it's written with both kana and kanji. And I can't read kanji. ![]() Last edited by Kinethi : 03-08-2008 at 01:25 PM. |

| Beginner | Ever 17 is available in English. You can buy it from J-List -- a wonderful toybox of things from Japan! The other titles in that series though have never been translated. |

| Beginner | I hate to break it to you, but it's never going to happen. Give it up. Kanji is a part of life in Japan. You need to know over eight hundred just to be able to read a newspaper proficiently, and you need over a thousand to be considered "literate." Even children's books have some kanji in them (and by "children's books" I don't mean, like...Harry Potter, or even Cat in the Hat. I mean like "See Spot Run" and "Goodnight Moon") Any body of text in japanese is going to have kanji. Period. Might I offer an alternative? If you're proficient enough with japanese to be able to pick up new words just from seeing them in context, you should be able to do it through speech. Find a game with voice and use that? Several of the games previously reccomended are voiced, I know. |
