It was a tough one, but I went for the 360.

The PS3 I hate. In the UK, we had the last release, we pay the most (about $900) and we get the gimped version (not PS2 compatible). So I will not vote for that scam machine (or wait til I buy one next year )

I've only played on my friends Wii once, and I loved it. So active and fun, and very competitive. Even if there is now a video of me on the interweb playing wii sports >.>

The 360 won my vote cause it is the most versatile machine (prolly cause its been out the longest). The games are very varied, and I can't wait for Guitar Hero to come out for it

None of them, cause choosing a console is stupid. Why bash one thing for the things another has that it doesn't? They're just something that plays different games depending on what you get.

The EU Version of PlayStation 3 is not totally "not PlayStation 2 compatible". Sony just removed the Emotion Engine(PlayStation 2's CPU) and replaced it with a software emulator. You may think that the emulator for PlayStation 2 sucks cause the only best custom emulator out there is the PCSX2 and it doesn't totally function as a good emulator since it only runs few number of games. But this is Sony who's creating the emulator. Sony developed the PlayStation 2 so they know it like the back of their hands.

I don't think UK payed the most. I remember Denmark paying more than $900 or almost $1000 for the console.

Currently the PlayStation 3 has a very low game library but this was the same issue with the Xbox 360 last year.

I have to agree with InnocentBlood. It is pointless to vote who will win this console feud. You can compare them side by side with their technical specifications along with the price range, but not definitely with the game selections.

Wii - Cheapest since it only plays games. Also note the technical specs, it is not as something fantastic. An IBM-PowerPC based CPU, and the ATI "Broadway" GPU are the only thing to brag about.

Xbox360 - Mid Price range. Pretty reasonable though, since you get High Definition games. On top of that it can handle more medias like DVD, DVD-/+R/RW/DL, CD, CD-/+R/RW. And it comes with a hard drive(20GB for premium and 120GB for Elite). With Xenon CPU and Xenos GPU, plus some optional add-ons, price is reasonable enough.

PlayStation 3 - Most Expensive. People hate this console because Sony bundled in everything right away, making it cost a lot of money. However, PlayStation 3 has the Cell CPU, and RSX GPU, on top of that, it plays the most number of media files types. Also, you can install Linux on your PS3 with out any modifications made.

All of the consoles are pretty much the same. Price + Specification wise. If you do not know, Microsoft's MSN reviewed PlayStation 3 having a very reasonable price and yet a very powerful console.

I only have a PlayStation 3(60 GB) among the 3, but I am getting a Wii soon and wait for the Premium version of Xbox 360 to be upgraded like the Elite. If only the PC platform is included, I'd definitely vote for it.

1. For a family system i choose the Wii
2. for a gamer system i choose the 360
3. for the blueray i choose the PS3(cause that is the only reason people buy them)

I have a 360, and it's alright, though I think I'd prefer the PS3 just because of it's media capability. After, opening a box with that thing inside and seeing the 60GB on the box, I was kind of amazed, especially with FFXII recently purchased, but really just for its specs. I haven't tried the Wii but it looks fun enough, though if I wanted to play games where I'd be active, I'd play some basketball or tennis in real life. I can't slay a dragon in real-life b/c of well, the fact that I haven't seen one, let-alone one worth slaying, BUT you can do that in RPGs, and I associate, for the most part, the playstation series' consoles with RPGs. Like someone said before me the PC would've been the best platform, since these consoles are computers anyway right?

So you agree the EU was screwed by Sony when it came to the release then

I know of a company who are importing PS3's from the US, making them UK compatible and reselling for about £385 (about $750). If its screwing Sony out of a few £, more power to them I say.

Also, why should we not get the same spec machine here as the rest of the world? Only reason to put in an emulator instead would be to make themselves more money. I think it could take a while before there are a lot of EU PS3 lovers out there. Maybe in the furture when the price comes down significantly....

It is not likely that Sony screwed EU, EU has a very high cost of living. It has a high vat rate, higher staff salary, and UK retailers were mentioned to be getting much more incentive than retailers from the rest of world. The same situation might happen again just like what happened to Lik-Sang. I do not know why, but honestly for some reason, SCEE(Sony Computer Entertainment Europe) is some what fucked up. They have taking too much actions that affects the SCEI(Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. - Japan), the center of all PlayStations. SCEA(America) took only a few actions in the past but it is pretty much piracy prevention related. SCEK(Korea), never took any breaking actions. SCEE did closed the Lik-Sang, and bought up some more controversies like, you name it, removing the PlayStation 2 chip inside the PlayStation 3, not releasing the 20 GB version of the PlayStation 3, etc.

The removal of Emotion Engine will also be implemented around the world after the EU release of PlayStation 3. So it's not that EU will be the only region to experience the emulator. Actually the emulator cut down the costs of production, so you may think that Sony is making more money out of this. But not exactly, I have surfed through some EU shops and the prices were actually lower than predicted($800 - $900) from the release date.

But to me, it is a good thing that they removed the Emotion Engine. I am not a fan of backwards compatibility. I have my PlayStation and PlayStation 2 swapped out their lenses because I am playing different medias for the systems. My PlayStation console lens got worn out because I am playing audio and video cd's. My PlayStation 2 lens broke(I think it's more of the laser that went wrong) due to playing PlayStation and DVD-Video. It is really not healthy for Sony's lenses to wear it too much. Maybe it was Sony's strategy to earn more money? who knows...

I do not know what actually happened in EU during the PlayStation 3 release date, but articles and reviews, keep on mentioning that the PlayStation 3 sales in EU were higher than expected. And the prices were lower than of the scalpers'. On top of that, SCEE managed to pull out a few tricks, like free games and a free HDTV(40" Bravia) give aways during the PlayStation 3 release night.

I am not a Sony fan, but since I'll be working in this industry in the future, I can't help but defend it. Like I said, I want all three of the systems but since PS3 has the largest stock in my area, it's the only thing available that I can buy. Actually, there are also lots of Xbox 360 here but I heard of the Elite and decided to wait. I was actually holding my horses off last year to get an Xbox 360 cause I wanted to experience all three systems first before getting them.

Sure. I'd also like to have one but the Pro Elite version. Comes with an HDMI out and HDMI cable plus 120 GB HDD.

I voted for the Wii. It just screams "gimmick" but it's better compared to the two others. I've never been an X-Box fan, and the 360's retrocompatibility sucks, while you can play 20 years old games on the Wii. And who can afford a 600$ console?

I vote for the Wii, because i dont like the Xbox (i hate Micrsoft) and i dont need a console like the ps3
