PS3: Worth the money? Or a waste? - Page 4

I guess for me, it comes down to what each system is strong in.

If you want Quality sports games, excellent online play, get an X-box.
If you want family friendly games that are great for the kiddies and have a strong interest in classic gaming, get a Wii (I still laugh at that name, what the *explitive deleted* where they thinking?)

if you want Excellent RPG's, one of the Largest gaming libraries, and future Final Fantasy games, get the PS3

My advice for the guys who wants the ps3 is......... WAIT for the right time to buy because I've heard news that when the xbox360 was first out, many things were reported...... because of that I've thought that to wait for the ps3 to improve more and then while your ps2 or xbox still will be at use (I mean there are many more playable games) go and use it......... I am saying this because I am afraid that the same will happen like the xbox360 and your money will be wasted........ and who wants to buy a $400-$500 maybe for just entertainment............who here agrees with me?

Yeah it would be best to wait until a version or two later for them to hammer out the bugs before you buy. By the time that a decent model comes out that won't crap out on you after a few months there's a good size library of games out and ready to be bought. And yes the production line costs are outrageous besides I don't think you'll be able to get your hands on them unless you preordered or get it from ebay which is going to be overpriced since some people are preordering to ebay it at an overinflated price in the first place.

I'm not getting one; first off, the price is a major putoff. Second, their 'analysts' have been full of crap lately and had to hire a group to 'help their image'. Shows that they're not doing so good. Third, they've been having production problems which is leading to a major shortage of units. I'm thinking that it might be a flop; if not, it'll be an uphill battle for Sony.

The only reason why i'll be buying one is cause they dont make final fantasy on pc no more (ffonline dont count). is the ps3 worth 800 bucks .. i dont think so, FinalFantasy is imho :P

And regarding a remake of final fantasy 7, Squarenix has a special surprise for us all as reported by many leading gaming magizines, the 2006 tokyo gaming expo (aka TGS) is only a week away. Not only has Square rented themselves the 2nd largest booth (twice as large as last years) it also nudges up next to the sony computer booth. In my honest opinion square would not have a stage of that size just to preview another final fantasy game, it hasnt in the past why start now? the only reason why they would have such a large stage is because they are unveiling something that the consumers have been anticipating for a very long time.

But we will find out in a few days exactly what they have up their sleeves lets all prey that they have heard our screams and insane cries and started development on probably the greatest game in history.

Even with Final Fantasy I don't think I'll buy a PS3, even that isn't worth the price. With the way things are going Sony is going to need to make a hefty profit real soon and the PS3 sales isn't going to do that, it may overtime with the sales of the games but not something immediate that'll help them. Without that money they'll going to have to sell some of their assets because they're very much in the red in debt.

even if sony doesnt make their money in america they will make their fair share in the asian market espeically in japan and korea which as you know is like 5 x the population of america. The way i see it sony only has one competitor and thats nintendo but with the release of final fantasy and other major named series moving from nintendo to sony, sony has nothing to worry about at all.

Well you know Sony is selling their consoles at cost...it costs $600 to manufacture and ship it. I agree that they only have 3 half-decent titles at launch but they are going to start have amazing titles. All within the next few years. I wont buy it right away (don't have the money anyway...or the TV) because I am waiting for the good games. Like FF13. The games are only going to be expensive if you buy them right off of the shelves as soon as they come out. Wait a month and the price will drop dramatically. Oh, and about the technology that prevents you from sharing the games or playing it on any other console? They aren't using it in the PS3 because they are not complete morons.

of course there will be good games coming out..
