PS3: Worth the money? Or a waste? - Page 2

I presonally would prefer to get a PS3 over a Xbox 360 but there is still soo much which has not been disclosed or finalized about the PS3 and launch is getting closer and closer.

For PS3 game prices my hard limit would be $69.99 for maybe an exclusive or something but for the rest I surely hope they would be $59.99 like the X360 games . If the games cost more than that I guess I wouldn't be gaming very often on my PS3 if I got one.

The next question is what the PS3 will do other than being a gaming machine. They have been stressing that the PS3 is a computer, it runs Linux, and its components are upgradeable. If really do make it a fully functional PC then that would give it some worth as something other than a gaming console. Then I wonder if the PS3 online service be something worth having because at this point that only thing that anybody seems to know is that it exists.

Lastly there is blu-ray which I also prefer over hd-dvd. After reading reviews over at the avsforum it seems like at this early stage the general concensus is that hd-dvd is slightly better than blu-ray (picture quality wise) at the moment. Will the situation be the same around the holiday season, who knows, but it makes me a little worried that the lower priced hd-dvd will become the dominate format.

yeah that's what made me more interested in getting one. right now it is still unknown whether the PS3 will be having Linux as the overall operating system to run everything. This will be great idea for homebrew designers. But i personally think it'll be better for Sony make it a dual boot where the Linux Os will be loaded from the XMB. This will prevent further hacks and exploits for the PS3.

I would like a PS3(MGS4 *cough cough) and baring any rediculous announcements by Sony I'll probably end up getting one. I don't buy consoles at launch because they have bugs and it takes a little while for developers to really hit their stride in developing for the console.

I think that of course the ps3 would make a worthy system but on the conrtaire its that very very extravagent price (599 or was it 499?)

and yes possibly a few glitches there and here just like the psp when it was distributed in japan or xbox 360 when it first came up but

of course as long as sony has there rpg's and mgs<---Metal Gear Solid then of course i well buy it XD

and yes the icon you see is a thumbs down for it resembles my opinion on the icon i have... :/

and not to mention the new technology there using (memory sticks and the blue ray discs)

a ps3 is expensive but there's another option some games (ex:MGS4) will be on the ps2 but what I don't understand is that this information was from an xbox magazine.

well since i've just shelled out about 600 towards xbox 360 and accesories i'll be spent for awhile or until i get bored of halo 3..

that piece of machienery costs too much, I can get an xbox 360 and a Wii for less than that
AND a pretty decent computer at the same price

Btw, if i would have $600-$800 of money ready to be wasted, by then i'll use it up in buying latest PC Upgrades instead buying that console, besides give it 3-4 months and a new emulator for PS3 will be out.

it seem over priced even with the blue ray on board the should of made a version with out b-ray so the price could go down
