Posts: 3 | I have been saying the same thing for years and years and years... but obviously to do with the older Consoles like the Sega DreamCast, PlaystationX and Nintendo64. I do agree, it would be a welcome changed to have all the companies make one... well lets just say it! SUPER CONSOLE! could you imagine being able to have so much flexibility. You could build in, as said, PS3 and 360... but why stop there? why not put in ALL the modern consoles? with all of their different controller systems. Anyway, nuff said on my part... you obviously get the idea that I like the idea!.

| Ultimate Moé ![]() ![]() ![]() | With as much beef between 360 and PS3 owners, it'll be a longshot. Also, it just means that there'll be more money spent on an online system for cross-platforming. As for PC-360 multiplayer, I think you can already do that with Halo 2 (and I think 3) as well as Call of Duty 4. |

| Head Staff ![]() ![]() ![]() | Doing this would require either full blown emulation of the other console or agreement to similar architectures. Full emulation is going to be very slow, emulated programs run at least 15X slower than native even with dynamic recompilation. Similar architectures, however, would make emulation feasible. I don't think they'd be inclined to go that route cause it would mean people could buy one console and still play the others games, and developing a console is a considerable investment. If people can buy one console then the other console companies could just give up on hardware and concentrate on games. Personally, I think the competition over hardware in addition to push from game developers is good. Quote:

I believe PC games that use Windows Live are able to play with Xbox Live. | |
