| lolikon | As of today November 27, we will no longer allow bmp uploads to the gallery. The reasons are rather simple, first off, it takes a single mouse click to save a file in a much more compressed type (jpg or png are ideal,) rather than a larger bmp supporting limited colors, and also a LARGE filesize compared to the comparative jpeg. The gallery also does not support thumbnailing of bmp images, which makes the staff's job much more difficult in terms of weeding out illegal content, or images posted to the wrong categories. Thanks in advance for your understanding, ~ichigo~ |

| Cynical Bastard | BMP files actually support full 32 bit colors, and even has an Alpha channel, much like PNG files, its Jpeg that doesn't support True 32bit colors, mainly because it uses compression. This however, is not noticable by the naked eye. More information on BMP files can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_bitmap I applaud this move, becuase BMP files use too much Bandwidth, and are apain to download, even on high speed. | lolikon | My bad Okay, sorry I missed a minor thing, yes, BMP does support full 32 bpp, depending on the pallette used to create. IE : some BMP are 16 bit greyscale, 8 bit, etc, it depends mainly on the pallette used in creation. But yeah, theyre bulky, yucky, and just use too much space/bw for our likings Quote:
