| Dreamer through Time | Port forwarding..trouble? Hi^^, I'd like to very much know if anyone has an explanation for the following... Because it's very strange..and to know if there's a need for me to correct things too.. For a while the speeds of my torrents had been slow. Port changing and reboot of computer had not much effect(dl speed being somewhere between 40-70kb/s). Nor rebooting the modem(that usually helps). So I tried the last trick that has always worked; redoing the user rules for port forwarding(you know, tcp, udp, port start, port end, port map, ie replacing the old rules with completely new ones). But it had not been that long since I had done all that last time...not good cause it's so drawn-out process, I'd really not start doing it every once in a while_ _ ..So I was a bit worried. But then I got this crazy idea of putting port range somewhere else than port start?(actually, in the middle of the range. And the map for the second range(I've always used two rules(ranges) in the modem roster) I put in somewhere in the first range..). And applied it all.. .... ...... ........Speed went up to 150kb/s(it probably could have been lot better, but there's alot of slow torrents on my utorrent roster(especially those Sakura Wars OVAs_ _ ), dht connections went up from 170 to 270.. and there's no connection timeouts or trouble for the torrents to find their trackers. When I goto AHQ,ADBT(private trackers), my connections are showing as they should. So everything's green .... ...err...no ![]() there's this red bubble in utorrent. Everything's green so it should'nt matter,..But this is an IMPORTANT bubble..or at least one would think so... ..It's the bubble between the DHT and Speed tabs on the bottom of utorrent gui. It tells whether the port is forwarded right and if I'm reachable. Somehow I'm getting the feeling I'm missing something here?Whatever it is, it has to do with the placement/choice of the port maps, because that's the only thing I've done differently. Everything is working fine and and utorrent telling everythings NOT fine... ..with isps choking the ports all the time you'd think the opposite was the more likely scenario? I don't know. Perhaps someone of you can tell me why this is as is? And, as I noted in the beginning, to know if I have a need to correct this.. Sincerely, Blanchimont ![]() edit; for note, it's holding a steady 120/80kb/s(down/up) compared to 50/70kb/s before(when the 'port' showed green)
