| Dreamer through Time | Switching desktops.. Hi^^, I'm posting about a quite peculiar error I've encountered. Because of the circumstances involved I wonder if anyone else on Datorrents have experienced anything similar... Some time ago I installed japanese fonts on my machine in order to be able to play japanese games, more precisely ever17 and xchange3. When installing xchange3 I wondered why there didn't appear a shortcut on the desktop?.. So I tried making one manually. That didn't show up either.. So I simply left it.. Some hours later..I happen to check the desktop..? What the...ONLY THE ORIGINAL ICON AND THE ONE I HAD MADE(for xchange) WERE PRESENT. Ever since then, to tell the story short..; My desktop switches between two modes, and whatever items are on one, hide completely when the other activates, and vice versa when reversed.(ie they are not searchable/viewable(even if you make a shortcut to the item on desktop from somewhere else, when you click it, it will simply state the 'item' does not exist if the 'right' desktop is not active)) switching seems random, not too frequent(every ten hours or so) An example; If I create a textfile on desktop and some point later click it; it either opens as usual,(file can be removed) or file 'doesn't' exist, or can't click because the icon doesn't appear at all.. I'm pretty positive this has something to do with installing the japanese fonts.. I don't mind it much..I like to keep wallpaper clean and use bottom bar (bottom bar and wallpaper are not affected at all and it doesn't seem to have similar effects on anything else..) It's pretty funny actually^^.. Sincerely, Blanchimont ..just wondering, where do those items reside when 'hiding'? |
