| I haven't bought a new computer in years. Mine just kinda evolves over time. It started as some low end off the shelf tan thing. Later, I added a Soundblaster 16, then a new HDD. Later still, I upgraded to a Pentium 200 and new motherboard to accomidate the new CPU, and a few weeks later got a CD Drive, then an Nvidia Geforce FX 5200 video card a few months after that. In 2002 I upgraded to a Celeron 900 (agian, new motherboard to accomidate the CPU) and higher end RAM, then a few months later, replaced the HDD with a 120 gig drive and replaced the CD drive with a CD RW drive. Year before last, I got a new tower for it, and early last year upgraded to Pentium 4 2.66 gHz (again, new motherboard with it) and 512 RAM (ddr400 I think) and just a few months ago, finally made the upgrade to WinXP. So, my machine is a very motley device, with these current stats: P4 2.66 gHz (think the motherboard is PC Chips) 512 DDR400 RAM 120 Gb HDD (is that eide or ata? I forget) CD RW Sound Blaster 16 PCI nVidia GeForce FX 5200 PCI Windows XP (though I made it look like Win98 still) and that's about it for me ![]() | |

| Ultimate Moé | Custom Built (with recycled parts): - Gigabyte Technologies mobo supporting up to 16GB of RAM (no joke) - 2.4 GHZ AMD Athlon 3800+ - 1024 MB of RAM (PNY Technologies) - 64 MB NVidia GeForce 6150 LE (onboard video, can't reuse ATI Radeon 9200SE due to my board having a PCI-E slot rather than AGP) - 40GB HD (Western Digital, carryover from dad's old machine) - Pioneer CD/DVD combo burner and reader (I don't remember the speeds at this moment) - 3.5" Floppy Drive (rarely used) - 15" Barbie monitor (cousin's old machine) - Barbie keyboard (again, cousin's old machine) - Logitech optical mouse (got it for free from dad's former co-worker) - Windows XP Home Edition Upgrade *EXTRAS* 1 SATA cable (hopefully will find good deal on SATA drive) 4 USB ports in the back, 2 up front 2 older brand speakers from dad's old machine at workplace 8-channel HD-compatable audio. P.S. Don't buy any new ECS motherboards. They have memory issues up the bum.

| Special Member | If KiraRin was lazy, damn hell I am much lazier. ![]() That's just a laptop but at least it's powerful enough among others. It's Compaq cause it's on sale when I bought it at Bestbuy. I plan to get a new dell laptop soon after I saved up to $2500. I'll make sure to max the specs out. ![]() Last edited by vincent_10_27 : 02-10-2007 at 12:28 PM. |

| Broadband Junkie | AMD X2 4800+ Asus A8N-SLI Premium 4GB DDR400 74GB Raptor 10,000rpm x2 in RAID0 300GB Maxtor MaxlineIII x2 500GB Hitachi 7K500 x2 in RAID0 500GB WD RE2 x2 in RAID0 500GB + 300GB + 160GB external Total Storage = ~3.38TB 16x Dual Layer DVD+/-RW 52x CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive nVidia 7800GTX 512MB Soundblaster Audigy Plat. Klipsch 5.1 Surround Dell 2007FP WinXP I built this in Summer of 2005 minus the two WD RE2 and 500GB external drive which I added later. I am hoping that this rig will last me a few more years before it is completely outdated and I feel the need to build a new rig that will last me another 3-5 years. I usually go all out and build a high-end machine when there is a huge leap in performance (over what I currently have) and next-gen specifications come out to try to future-proof my machine for as long as possible. My previous 2001 built computer was the following (built around WinXP released): Dual Processor AMD MP 1800+ 1GB DDR266 ECC Tyan K7 Thunder 80GB x2 in RAID0 60GB x2 in RAID0 160GB External Kenwood 72x CD-ROM 4x DVD+/-RW ATI Radeon 8500 Soundblaster Audigy Plat.
