| ImageBoard Mod | Backup: I hear its tough to back up XP although I don't know the sytem weel I have had alot of experience backing up in database's in windows and dos enviroments. With the use of bat files and 2nd HDD they have never let me. down uf course this scrry for a noob but this little script made with notepad saved as backupwin.bat and backupProg.bat really work well. 1. make directory on 2nd drive nave it backupwin 2. open notepad type in: XCOPY C:\WINDOWS\*.*D:\BACKUPWIN\*.* /s/e/c/r/h/k/y 3. click save file as: D:\BACKUPWIN.bat 4. then make a shortcut to it from your desktop 5. to restore: make bat file restorwin.bat with this typed: XCOPY D:\BACKUPWIN\*.* C:\WINDOWS\*.* /s/e/c/r/h/k/y 6. TO RESTORE REMEMBER TO INSTALL WINDOWS 1ST BEFORE CLICKING ON THE RESTORE WINDOWS.BAT 7. you can repeat this for all folders that you choose to backup(works with all Windows and Dos Versions upto Win2000 do not try this with XP without further knowledge of it) I will not be held responsible USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK |

| It is easy to backup XP. I have done so, recovered from failures, and transfered drives, using the Runtime Software tools. Then again, I am a tech. Their backup and drive transfer tool is free, and easy to use. http://www.runtime.org/dixml.htm Just remember that you might need to mark the partition as active when you restore a boot drive. | |

| I do a running backup as I go (with DVD+Rs), so if the main hard drive crashes, meh, no big deal. Besides, it's nice to reload Win XP every year or so, to clean out all the "dust bunnies" in the corners of Windows (like registry entries, direct x files, drivers, malware you were UNaware of, etc.) | |
