| Okay, after checking the threads, I couldn't find anybody mentioning this, but if it is posted somewhere else that I missed, my sincerest apologies. I recently downloaded Gundam Wing A.C. series, and it turns out all of the files are in OGM format. No problem, I thought I have the right codecs. I use WIndows Media player and oddly enough the sound plays the English and Japanese simultaneously. Does anyone else have/know about this sort of problem? How do I make the media player only play the English or Japanese (preferrably English)? Should I use another media player? ![]() | |

| Try this player: http://www.bsplayer.org/ Also try reinstalling the ogm filter. http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...ow_Filters.htm | |

| Special Member | if what dagger906 mentioned didn't work, i suggest you get the cccp , it is byfar the most compatible filter/decoder of most anime media files. it has the latest splitters and it will get ogm working fine. it will also support xvid,divx,h264,avi,wmv,mpg,mpg2,mkv,etc. just make sure that you wont use the cccp with windows media player. because wmp is having playback issues when using external codecs/filters/splitters. this happens because the wmp cannot prioritize the order of decoding process and thus cannot choose which is the best decoder to be used for playback. most often wmp will prioritize their built-in wma/wmv decoder for use with other codecs, hence crashing results. to make cccp work properly, make sure you uninstall every filters/decoders/splitters you have on your computer, you can do this by using the cccp's insurgent. the insurgent will locate any codecs you need to uninstall in order to avoid decoder priority. and don't forget to restart when uninstalling/installing codecs. this is the most common thing why many are having issues with codecs. unfortunately, cccp doesn't come with real or quicktime codecs. you can alternatively get k-lite codec pack for real and quicktime playback. the k-lite codec pack is very similar to cccp, except that the cccp is what most anime fansub groups recommend for their work. if you want the cccp, you can get the real alternative and quicktime alternative for use with cccp to enable real and quicktime media playback. cccp and klite will come packed with media players compatible for them. so you wont need to find any other players in the market for your anime needs. a suggestion: -try both codecs before finalizing your decision. many computers are still having troubles with cccp or klite, this will mean that sometimes, your computer will only accomodate one of these two as your universal codec. what i use: this is 95% working with most anime media files: -cccp -real alternative -quicktime alternative -xvid(you must prioritize this over cccp's xvid codec) -medial player classic using the above settings i rarely encounter problems with my anime playback. | Not going to work Thank you both, Dagger and Vincent, for your suggestions. I tried it both ways but I got the same problem. However, I think I know why. OGM files are really packets, kinda like zip files except used for media players. It contains the original video as well as several audio streams and sometimes subtitles. Since some anime junkies prefer subbed anime while others prefer dubbed anime, saving videos in an OGM kind of makes sense. However, in order to watch it with the language you want, you need to first unpack all of the files and reorganize them into a more popular format like divx or avi. Haven't had any luck yet, but I'll keep this post thread updated in case someone else has this problem in the future. ![]() | |

| Special Member | what dagger906 said is true. and it would be basically and realistically impossible if an ogm media wont work with either cccp or k-lite, cause these two packages are the most popular and most effective codec pack you can find around the net. especially for animes. you might not be properly choosing the stream for the ogm media. i have lots of ogm medias as well and i play them fine. And yes, most of my .ogm are from anime dvd's(meaning it contains dual/triple audio, lots of subtitle files, etc.). you need to select the stream of the ogm media if you wanted to play japanese audio and choose english subtitles. i dont know how to choose that option for cccp using windows(cause im on linux), but i believe there should be a task bar icon in the lower right side corner of the screen for cccp stream. just play around the cccp/klite. and if something goes wrong, you can run the cccp insurgent then uninstall and reinstall packs once more. there shouldnt be any problems with this. |

| At last! Finally got it working using the VideoLAN player. Whenever I tried other players and selected the English track it played both the Japanese (track 1) and the English (track 2). This one plays only one or the other now. I'm sure if I fiddled with it I could get the other players to work, but since I found one that does, I'm just not going to bother. Thanks for all your suggestions. And thanks evilgiggle for suggesting the videolan. | |

| Special Member | Good to hear it. But please take note that VLC Player is not stable in every codec it has and you cannot add additional codecs if ever there's a new format released. The Video Lan project has built in libavcodec under gpu license. so meaning it would be impossible to play all your media with vlc asides from the codecs it provides. unless video lan project updates. BTW, the proper definition to call a .ogm, .mkv, .avi is it's a container file. it's not zipped because the media inside those extensions were not compressed hence not lowering the quality. however, (for me) the very best media player(that i have proven to play everything without flaws and errors) is the MPlayer.(it's not the media player classic). how ever it is only open source media player. there is a gui available but it's not updated. open source means that you need to compile it and run a command line to play a media. As of now, all the flaws from any other players(Zoom Player, BS Player, VLC, Media Player Classic) never showed up(not even once) on MPlayer. and i still use Mplayer on my linux system. and also, Mplayer is the best one out there because it supports multi-os. |
