| How to obtain amazing (raping) upload speeds? Well, being the leecher I am, I often find myself in a bad situation, having a bad share ratio. Now usually, I just leave the computer on for weeks and weeks just constantly seeding, but when I have a ratio of say.... 0.3 (boxtorrents 90GB:250GB~), then I would be holding up the internet for a long time indeed. My cable connection downloads in BT at 800kbps-1mbps, I would think that my upload would be equally impressive. That is not the case, as my upload speeds in BT rarely go past 40kbps and usually average at 20-25kbps. Is it a problem with my system/program configuration? Also, is it perfectly normal for the rest of the network's connections to slow down to a dialup speed or a near halt when seeding at the above speeds? When I seed, literally noone else on the network can use the internet. I currently use Comcast "High Speed Internet", which advertises something like 6mbit down and 1mbit up; Azureus, when seeding, unlimited UL, 10-50 upload slots per torrent, usually 1-2 torrents seeding at once and none downloading. | |

| Please note that Bittorrent measure bandwidth in kiloBytes, not kiloBits. 1 kiloByte = 8 kiloBits Actual speed is always lower than advertised. Check yours: http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ Get Event ID 4226 patch. The more half open TCP connections, the better. http://www.lvllord.de/?url=tools Increase TCP ACK window. http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php | |

| How does my connection scale to yours? Download Speed: 4729 kbps (591.1 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 248 kbps (31 KB/sec transfer rate) Any good? (My upload makes me cry.) EDIT: I checked up on the services offered by Comcast. Download speed Upload speed Monthly rate 4Mbps 384Kbps $42.95 6Mbps 384Kbps $52.95 8Mbps 768Kbps $62.95 I believe that is what I have, and I'm guessing I can't really improve it much can I? Posts: 89 | there are a couple things you can do... oddly enough, my upstream (20 mbps) far outstrips my downstream which sits at like 5 mbps. uhm, there are 2 things I can think of ... that might help your upload speed. 1) if you're sitting behind a router, then you should open some ports for the BTT program 2) go to dslreports.com (i think it is) and they have a program there that "tweaks" your upstream capabilities. but then again, that 5, 20 mbps transfer speed was mostly made possible by a campus connection not sure what the speed is now that I'm on wireless and lose a whole lotta packets to the air!

| well i cant do a test atm cause of seeding and running a dc hub. but my down is 600k/s and up is 65k/s. my package is a 5mbit package. there is a 7, but no more up, so its not worth it. since we have phone and dsl tv, and interent, and longdistance, and cell phones all through 1 company, the net is like 40 bux a month. | |
