| Special Member | internet explorer 7 don't you think that ms is just copying what is the consumer's choice? and that they just want that thing for themselves...isn't that too much? i think that's the reason they got all faulty when it comes to their software...no disrespect but the moment i saw the ie7 on my friends pc. i was like gee, ms, can't you do anything better than just to copy? because ie7 looks like somewhat firefox to me.. |

| ...as if there are a lot options where to put tabs or a searchbox... there are no options than the already existing ones ^^ it's not copying, it's evolution and the UI of IE7 is actually completely different. Firefox (and all other current browsers) go after the classic design-aspects of Mosaic4 (old Netscape / IE till 6), which was designed after the UI-goals of Win9x (menubar, toolbar, additional toolbar, .... [in that order]) IE7 goes another road by minimizing the space used on the top to leave more room for the displayed website. (and there were(/still are ?) already thoughts to copy that interface in firefox as alternative to the current one, btw) and if you remember right, MS's most success is due to evolution and giving the consumer what he wants. like a cheap [cheap at that time... nowadays that would be hell :P] IBM-compatible pc with DOS/Win instead of a fukin expensive Mac. or the downfall of netscape: IE just became better while doing the same as netscape, but more. (it wasn't really the bundling with Windows IMO... i always disliked to use netscape - even when IE was still kind of crappy in version 3) | |

| The downfall of Netscape is IE being packaged with Windows. Most people use computer without knowing anything about it(meatware). They just use whatever comes with the OS. Might as well use IE, since they were forced to pay for it while buying the whole package. Microsoft is just pathetic. There's no way I'm switching back to IE after all the viruses and trojans gotten from it in the past. They security holes will come up eventually, like every other version of IE. ![]() | |

| Special Member | i'm not talking about ui's...if it's ui's then every browser for me will look the same...lol...take a quick look at the script...although the coding has it's own pattern...it resembles what? i don't know but just went to the site and saw that there's already a beta2..i think my friend got the unreleased beta..so it must've been edited now... why is it that everytime i talk about software everyone thought that i'm talking about gui's?? ![]() Last edited by vincent_10_27 : 06-04-2006 at 06:15 PM. |

Posts: 89 | no really. a good percentage of the population does not know how a computer runs. you may return to your seats but seriously, I service a lot of my friends comps cause they can't do a thing with them, other then catch spyware and stuff. They of course use whatever is in front of them. It's like using word perfect instead of Microsoft Word. they dont realize theres a difference until there's a compatibilty issue, and even then they still believe they're on and the same program. to put it simply, if everyone was computer savvy, no one would be using IE, except for the few times you need it, because of pages written to accomodate IE's shitty standard settings.
