Posts: 207 | Photoshop Signature Tips I thought I'd share some of my Photoshop knowledge, so here's a few tips for aspiring sig-makers out there. --------------------------------------- 1. Add a border. Even if it's just a 1px black outline, a border adds a nice professional touch to your sigs. 2. Renders are easier to work with than random screenshots/images. The source of most of my renders: Planet Renders // Renders - Home Google for other render sources. 3. Download brushes from deviantart.com. Good use of custom brushes can result in really good looking backgrounds. deviantART: where ART meets application! 4. Get some new and interesting fonts to use. 1001 Free Fonts - Download Free Fonts - Free Windows and Mac Fonts dafont.com 5. Utilize blending modes and transparency on your layers to get some really neat effects. ![]() 6. Experiment with Layer Styles, especially on your text. 7. Learn to use the quickmask tool for easy image blending (I've used this technique more times than I can count). Tutorial: Image Blending by =Pruvmerong on deviantART 8. Use the Blur Tool set to a low strength % to smooth out the edges of rough/pixelated renders. More to come! And feel free to post your own tips. Last edited by Pruvmerong : 11-15-2008 at 10:36 PM. |
