| Cynical Bastard | It would really depend on what bitrate you encode the video at. Xvid (Divx spelled backwards... *rolls eyes*) can give a higher quality video then H.264, you'll just have a higher file size because of the Bit-rate (amount of memory used for a single second of video) All H.264 is just a more recent codec that gives the same, if not better, video quality at lower bit-rates (And thus smaller file sizes). |

| Beginner | A lot of older machines (Older meaning, like old, old. AKA P3's and maybe some early P4's) won't run H.264/x264 very well because of the processing power required to decode the video. However, I haven't heard anything about them having trouble decoding XviD video. As far as size goes, it does matter some. But if the video is good quality, even at 704x396 it will still look fine on higher resolution screens (even at 1080i). But it's still like comparing two images (one image at 704x400 and one at 1280x720).

| ImageBoard Mod | Hey Guys I'm going to move this down to computer dicussion, and add 2 cents: picture is always going too look better and process better in smaller resolutions xvid or 264. Older machs. have less problems with xvid versus 264, the only thing my win98 2.0 Celeron,16mb vid card can't handle sometimes is 264 w/aac.

It all depends. You did not mention anything about the run time, resolution, audio compression, etc. For a 175MB, I can fill it with something that has no audio and yet Hi-Def video. It's all see what you like and take what you prefer. | |
