| Administrator ![]() | ad changes Hi, as i'm sure some have noticed, we're currently testing a different ad provider. Due to rising costs and little ad revenue being made, we're currently looking at all of our options. While we'd like to be able to break even, we're not going to cause a headache to everyone by using pop unders and things of the like (clicksor is famous for these). We ask that all users that currently have ad blocks, to please not use them on DAT, and if there is an ad that honestly interests you, to consider checking it out. All money at this time will be going to order us a dedicated MySQL server. With the site growing in an astonishing rate (just check us out on alexa for instance), we're driving MySQL into the ground and then some. While we've done many upgrades to our new webserver, litespeed, it seems that this has done nothing but actually make the site even more busy as pages, even under the huge load they are right now (for the unix geeks out there, we're idling 8 - 20 loads on a Core2Duo), are loading at a decent rate. Of that load, MySQL is causing about 80% of it. We thank everyone for their loyalty and work with us as we make DAT a truly massive community :-) To our current advertisers, clicksor will be tested for the next day or so to get an idea of our revenue options. Your ads are in full rotation on the home page, so you won't loose all of your traffic. Once we decide which route we're going, we'll work with clicksor to setup a deal so you guys can move on over without being hit hard, wallet wise :-) Thank you! ~Francisco |
