| No Life ![]() | Anime Recommendation for December Tis the season and all that, and is also time for the December recommendations. You know how it goes by now, what have you watched recently that has really caught your eye? Be it an older series, or something shiny and new... What would you recommend to others in the DaT community? And only 1! And tell us why its so great ![]() Its been quite a tricky month for me to decide on just one series... There have been a lot of excellent things out, and I especially love Death Note. But I think I will go with a slightly unusual choice with Kemonozume. ![]() ARTWORK As you can see from the image, the artwork is slightly unorthadox. It took me 3 attempts to get more than 5 minutes into the first episode. The animation seemed so childish. Almost like an 8 year old drawing monsters! But its seems to change depending on the situation. The action scenes seem like a flash animation, but you can't stop watching! Some of the quieter scenes make use of real imagery. And other times, you will marvel at the simplest things like textures. AUDIO The audio is amazing. The intro track is a fast paced almost freeform piece of jazz. The kind of thing I don't normally like, but it fits! It suits the anime so well. The ED is a real cute track, and a great contrast to the OP. The seiyuu also do an excellent job, and are well suited to each character they portray. STORY This is what really sold this anime for me in the end. If it wasn't for work, I would have watched this all in one sitting. Its a modern tale of Romeo and Juliet, except this time its humans against flesh eaters. The kifuuken exist as a crack team of swordsmen who through history have protected mankind against the flesheaters. But what happens when one of the kifuuken falls in love with a beutiful flasheater? The story revolves around their escape together and the problems they have to overcome. OVERALL This is definitely not for kids. It is a mature series, and contains a lot of nudity and violence. Though, I think a lot of people will be put off by the animation style. If you disliked the look of Gankutuou, give this one a miss. Otherwise, be prepared for one of the ultimate love/hate series ![]() H. |
