There is a difference, loli is fiction. If we want to do away with the distinction between reality and fiction as far as what is allowed, we'd have to out law quiet a bit, like violent movies, books, games etc etc etc.
In Japan (where most loli is produced and consumed) crimes against children are quiet low (almost no existant) which would seem to weaken any claim of a statistical correlation between viewing loli and actually abusing a child.

Let's also keep in mind that loli doesn't necessarly have to be pornographic.

It sounds to me like you're saying people that watch the pornographic type of loli are "A-OK" which really is debatable.

Now, an interesting correlation would be how many arrests of child pornographers, pre teen mind you, consisted of them also containing loli smut.

borderline hentai stuff i tend to look away from, but loli hentai i think is just wrong. all i see is pedo's or someone with a pedo problem. sure pics of young ppl are cute, but them doing sexual activities is wrong in my opinion.

as for the canada thing, they do check at customs. went to acen 05 with a friend and we both took laptops. going down was suprisingly easy, and on the way back, they asked if we have any equipment etc, and we told them of our laptops. well that was kind of a mistake. another hour at the border while they did a search thru our puters for loli and cp. all they did was search for all media files, then look thru them. joke was on them. i had copied "all my anime wallpapers" onto my lappie, and so down there my friend copied them to. so 1/2 hr each going thru pages of thumbnails looking for bad pics.

lol, the customs guys also had fun beating eachother with the kendo sticks i bought.

Saying loli hentai leads to child porn is like saying playing GTA leads you to become a big-time-gangsta and murderer.

I'm not into loli hentai, but its still legal. Its hentai. Its fictional. No paintbrushes and pencils were harmed in the making of it. There's alot of weird stuff out there, not just in hentai. If loli leads to child pornography, you better start doing something about rape hentai, hentai of sex with stepsisters, and quite abit else.

Why must it be an attempt to comply with the laws? Isn't it possible that the ones who draw loli art or just like this art:
A) Rather comply with their conscience than with the laws
B) Aren't into real porn, no matter what age the girls are?

"Sick" is such an ambiguous word. It's so useful to bash something that you don't like, just like "gay".

If you say it's unhealthy - what's about yuri and yaoi fans? Be they the same gender or the opposite to the characters.

If you say it's unmoral - who in this world is pure enough to judge "sinful" phantasies of other people? Is it really better to suppress "sinful" phantasies than indulge in them? The latter might give you a better control over your dark side.

I for one would rather befriend a person who embraces visions of the hell and yet hurts nobody than a person who banished the demons from his heart, yet doesn't care much about other people's feelings if these people don't share his moral.

OK, I have to say my thoughts, being a bit loli fan...

Not all of us are perverted pedophiles who want to have sex with underage kids, and it is unfair to say we all are. Yes, I like some loli, probably 1/4 of my collection would fall under that genre, most of which is from a select few artists and kept upon liking of the storyline or general fandom. Now, just because I like and have these EroManga doesn't make me a pedophile. Outside of questioning whether or not I could go through with it, I haven't had a single thought of even touching a kid that way. I am quite the opposite when it comes to IRL preferences, I prefer older women even to girls my own age.

As seorang said, and several others before on different boardshave as well, saying that if you like loli makes you a pedo is the same as saying that if you play GTA you want to steal cars, or you play Counter-Strike you are a mass-murder, or even if you play Oblivion you want slice people up. Oh, better yet, liking Bridget makes you gay. That kind of argument is just faulty and shows that there is lack of understanding somewhere within it. Where is the proof to back it up?

Thank you for that Naegling, I think that has been the best comparison so far! I'm not sure how many people read the thread I started last month about loli = pedophilia, but it certainly did not descend into a slagging match like this.

People have rights to look at and like what they will. I mean, some people putting down others might get turned on by rape hentai. If we're going by loli being wrong irl, rape is wrong irl too and therefore you are just as bad.

I personally do not like loli hentai, but I love the cutsey things like Air, Kanon etc that came from H games.

At this point, it's clear that loli is unquestionably legal under current US law. As for moral concerns, it's of no consequence. Not everything in the world exist for one person's comfort. Learn to be comfortable with it, or stay uncomfortable. DaTorrents will allow loli material as long as it is legal to do so. We will not ban loli based on moral viewpoints of certain individuals.
