Just getting started here...

Kind of new to anime, and I need a little direction here, because there is just SO MUCH anime out there!

I'm looking for stuff either in English (print, not video) or with English subs (I'd really rather not have English dubbed voices, those are usually horrible), and the maturity factor doesn't matter, 5-yr oldish up to adult. If it's too young for me (like targeted for pre-teens), I'll pass it on to my kids after I've screened it.

My personal interests are anything very dark, maybe vampires, stuff like that. Just look at my ava and sig, you'll get the idea.

This community has been fantastic so far, and thanks for your help here!

I'm not really into this dark/horror genere, so these are the only ones I can remember right now. Tell us if you want recommendations on other types of anime.

Sure, I appreciate that! Anything is cool, except yaoi; not into that. And thanks for those suggestions!

Anybody else have any ideas?

Edited: Also include in the list of what I DON'T want is any hentai involving loli and shota ( just finished looking up those terms in wiki, and nope, NOT for me! )

Anidb vampires

General advice is going through the top 200 on animenfo and then rating all of them on anidb. Then use the anidb hint system to get more, quite accurate, recommendations.

The Guyver: Bio-Booster Armor
My summary: I can't completely endorse this one, having seen only a few episodes. A kid fuses with a fancy alien suit thing and uses it to fight monsters.

Hell Girl

There is a rumor. There exists a message board called “Jigoku Tsushin” where one can access only at midnight. It is said that if one writes his grudge against someone, Jigoku Shoujo appears and she takes the person to the Hell.
