I dont think Archer is Shirou in the future. I have several reasons to think so.
1: How can he turn into a servant when the Holy Grail was destroyed?
2: Why would he seek out the Holy Grail for? Wouldnt it use people as sacrifices, thus going against his whole purpose in life, to protect everyone?

since the holu grail can gain the person any wish they want in how priceless the value is

just play the game. you'll know why.

if you don't then here's a brief info on what you should know...

-the anime was fixated with one main scenario and jumbled up with the two...
-the game's 3 different scenarios are loosely tied, although they have intertwining events.

If you play the game and understand the game's storyline, you'll have your questions answered and it'll not be your reason anymore...it'll be but a confusion.

Blah..... upon watching episode 2 and 14 over again i just realized something. At the end of episode 14 was a scene of Archer's clothes dissappearing and when it was completely dissappeared, Rin's jewel was left. It was the same jewel that Rin used to revive Shirou when he was killed by Lancer.

Right, well to summon a servant a totem related to the servant is needed. Since the Jewel was used to save Shirou in life, and he becomes a hero later in life, it allowed Rin to summon him. The reason they showed the jewel so clearly is because they picked the Fate scenario to use for the series it is never stated who exactly Archer is so they threw that in as a little hint. The Throne of Heroes, which preserves the souls of all Epic Spirits, exists outside of any conventional timeline, so Archer can be called from any point in history even the future.

What would be really cool would be if they went back and did the other two scenarios (since they picked the weakest one, the Fate story). All they have to do is go back and say "this could have happened" after episode 6 or so, and continue on with Unlimited Blade Works and then Heaven's Feel. Call the show "Fate/Stay Night: Alternate" or something, I would pay to see that.

Actually the way I see since the Shirou from the Fate scenario becomes Archer later, all three scenarios do in fact take place; Shirou wins the Grail War with Saber and become a hero and is summoned in the Unlimited Blade Works storyline, then that Shriou is summoned into the Heaven's Feel scenario as Archer and since that (the Heaven's Feel version) Shirou doesn't become Archer latter in life it happens "last". Thus allowing all three versions to have happened. If you look at it from a different perspective it is really all about Shirou realizing (over the course of the scenarios) that his ideas about saving humanity are wrong because to save one person it means to not save someone else.
