| Anime is better when-with subtitles-or-english voices dubbed Curiosity had bested me, for I wonder what you think is better. -Original anime with english subtitles or -Anime with english voices dubbed into the sound. I ask this because I myself believe that anime with english voices dubbed within the context makes the anime better and easier to view, but others I know believe that the original voices along with subtitles is how anime should be viewed. Please, enlighten me. What are your opinions? Last edited by Leukon_Knight : 01-27-2006 at 05:42 AM. | |

| I personally like anime either way whether it's subtitled or dubbed, there isn't a difference on the satisfaction scale except for in the event that the anime is butchered by the dubbers which does happen unfrotunately. There are animes however that aren't butchered and are very well dubbed like Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell (from what i've seen) and Trigun. All good animes that doesn't matter what you view them in they are still good no matter what. Only quirk about dubbed Trigun is it may be leaving out a few japanese style jokes =P | |

| I honestly have to disagree with you on that one, since I know that there are animes such as Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop that are perfectly fine whether they are original japanese voice or dubbed, it just depends on whos dubbing the anime and how hard they are being dubbed and to what kind of network they are going on. For series like Shaman King, sure, I'll agree with you that the dubs were horrible but look where they show showed up on... Fox Kids network.... so of course they have to change aspects of it to make it easier to grasp and easier on the ears. I use to be one of those people that was like hardcore, "I only watch anime that's japanese with english subs cause english everything sucks!" partly because that seems like it makes it more like orignal to watch anime that isn't released in America but I kind of figure over the years that it doesn't really matter as long as the storyline is in tact for the most part (aside from subtle difference) that it could be enjoyable. Most of the anime that i've seen and liked on Cartoon Network actually drove me to download the subbed version and they haven't been bad animes, so I don't think it's necessarily true that just because it's dubbed, it makes it a bad anime =D I do however respect your opinion on dubbed anime, alot of people feel the same way you do and there is good reason for it of course, American television has alot of rules that they have to follow which in turns tends to butcher it, I was just getting at the fact that not ALL dubbed anime is bad XD Last edited by Laughing Man : 01-27-2006 at 05:13 PM. | |

| RevanFlame's pet | A couple of years ago, I would only watch dubbed anime, I guess cause I was lazy. Though I say that, and the only way I could watch Akira was with the subs... The English voice acting for that movie was terrible. I agree with Laughing Man. There *are* a couple of series where the dubbing is actually quite good. The one that springs immediately to mind is Cowboy Bebop. I still watch it dubbed now :P Otherwise, subs all the way! H.

| Deffinitively subbed anime. Because anime is originaly made in Japan, of course. The japanese voice actors also tend to put way more feelings and emotion into their character. Maybe there are a few animes that are actually good dubbed, but the japanese version is always the best ^_^ | |
