Isn't it strange? It almost something of a necessary evil -- being typecast that is -- if you want to have a continuing career in the anime industry. It's almost as if you're only ever given one chance to prove yourself, and whatever voice you "prove yourself" with, you're just stuck with indefinitely. Well, this is, of course, not counting several female seiyuu's out there who voice both male and female parts, an absolutely ingenious career-proliferating technique if I do say so -- and I do mean exclusively the Japanese women. From what I've seen as of late, English female voice actors are typecast just as often; though, for what it's worth I think Melissa Fahn is quite possibly the best Edward [from Cowboy bebop] ever -- English acted that is.

I prefer subbed anime more than dubbed ones. The main reason for this is that the emotions of the characters in dubbed ones *usually* aren't as good as the original Japanese. Also, some of the meanings conveyed that only makes sense in Japanese may be lost when dubbed. Though, even if some dubbed versions are exceptionally good, I'd still like to watch subbed ones 'cause it's more original. Of course, raw would be closest to being original, but unfortunately I wouldn't be able to understand half of what it's saying due to my poor Japanese knowledge...

For me, I'm nearly 50-50 on the sub-or-dub issue. But sometimes after hearing the English dub version of an anime, I find it more amusing. Like in Tenjho Tenge, there was a scene where Souichiro Nagi gets a whiff of the teacher's hand and in the subbed version, he says that it smells like shrimp but in the English dub, he says it smells like man juice. So sometimes there's that difference which makes me prefer an English dub over a subbed version.

Because the dubbed voices are always so cheesey and crappy

I thinks that it all depends on the person. for example, when i've watched anime with subtitles and original Japanese language then change to watching it dubbed, it sucks because sometimes the voices are deeper and when they change it to english the character sounds dumb. but when i've watched some anime in english and i've never heard it in Japanese language i dont complain. i dont know thats just me...

Japanese is almost always better. The only time I watch anime in English is when it has my favorite voice actor in it or if it's on Adult Swim. The thing is, if I watch it a anime show for the first time in English, it's weird to hear it in Japanese. And the other way around.

Sub all the way. The dubs just seems to irritate me.
