Code Geass Dub, Good, Bad, or Indifferent?

Well, to me there is no doubt that Code Geass has been one of the best anime of the past year, especially getting in to season two now. But the Dub has started airing here in the U.S. now and I thought I'd take another look to see what it's like dubbed. Now, only the first two episodes have showed so far (Cartoon Network's Adult Swim), and I'm wondering what other people think about the job done with it. Personally, I can see why some people hate it when anime makes it over to the U.S because of slicing and dicing to the shows, but not all dubs are bad. So, let me know what you think of this dub job.

Are you saying you watched the Code Geass dub a couple of times, or just that you watched a couple of dubs and thought they were bad?

What "slicing and dicing"? Very very few anime suffer massive editing anymore, even the ones like Code Geass and Death Note that make it onto TV. This isn't the 1990s anymore. I did see the first season in fansubs, and I didn't notice any "slicing and dicing" in the first two episodes of Code Geass in English. As for the actual dub, Lelouche himself could use a bit of improvement, but most of the secondary characters were right on the money. I'm looking forward to watching the rest of it again via Adult Swim's site on Friday nights.

I was mainly referring to the 1990s. There haven't been all that many anime that have made it over to the U.S. in dub form since 2000. I'll admit that "slicing and dicing" may sound a bit extreme, but that is how it feels most of the time. At any rate, it's only been 2 episodes. I'm not saying they're neccessarily going to cut anything, but that it wouldn't surprise me if they did.

"Not that many?" Say what? (check subsequent years on the list as well) Maybe not that many have made it to TV, but plenty has come out on DVD completely uncut. And even if Code Geass gets a few edits on TV, it'll still be uncut on DVD.

I know I come off as some kind of rabid dub defender, but all I'm trying to do is show that not all (in fact very few) dubs are edited and/or censored.

Given the choice I usually go for subtitles with the original Japanese audio. With rare exception I usually avoid dubs.
As for Code Geass, I'd have to take a pass on the dub.

Well Code Geass is a very popular anime to begin with some people won't even care if its a dub.
I mean fans of this anime have long awaited a sequel and its finally out so they won't really mind as long as the anime is good.
But if it can be helped try to avoid dub version ^^'
