after seeing the preview was wondering is this from a comic book?

Yep, it based on the comic book of the same name by Marvel Comics, the same people that made X-Men and Spiderman.

wowzers thanks prh i'll have to check it out to see how far the movie is off from the comic if i can find any

np, I don't think it will be too hard to find, they were printed as late as the 90's.
While probably not the best place to shop for comics there are copies avaliable on Amazon.com.
The Marvel Comics website will also help you locate stores in your zip code with the series in stock. Just click find shop after follow the previous to Marvel's site.
