| Faerie Queen ![]() | Twilight Twilight (2008) ![]() Synopsis: ( This isn't my synopsis, it can be found here: Twilight (2008/I) - Synopsis ) Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) has always been a bit different, never caring about or fitting in with the trendy girls at her Phoenix, Arizona high school. When her mother Renee (Sarah Clarke) remarries and decides to move with her new husband to Florida, and Bella decides to go live with her father, Charlie (Billy Burke), in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn't expect anything to change. Then she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), a boy unlike any she's ever met. Intelligent and witty, his piercing eyes see straight into her soul. Soon, Bella and Edward are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance. Edward can run faster than any cheetah, he can stop a moving car with his bare hands, and he hasn't aged since 1918. Most importantly, he's a vampire. Like all vampires, he's immortal. He doesn't drink human blood (they're vampire "vegetarians"), which is rare among the vampire population. Instead, they go on regular "hiking" trips, where they feed on prey such as grizzly bears and mountain lions. For Edward, Bella is the thing he has waited ninety years for - a soul mate. But the closer they get, the more Edward must struggle to resist the primal pull of her scent, which could send him into an uncontrollable frenzy. And what will they do when James (Cam Gigandet), Laurent (Edi Gathegi), and Victoria (Rachel Lefevre) come into town and James sets his sights on Bella? Will true love prevail when Edward is forced to save her life and conquer his thirst? The true question is, When you can live forever, what do you live for? ----------------------------------------- Okay, so i understand that spoilers are supposed to be written in white ink so they can be highlighted to be read, but this entire thing is a spoiler to don't read it if you don't want the movie spoiled. Also, this is my personal opinion of Twilight, i spent a while writing this because i really had to vent about this movie, so sorry that it's ridiculously long. Okay, enough chit chat, on to Mab_Faerie's Twilight Movie review. I saw the movie last night, and i just have to say, it was so bad it was good! ...Scratch that, it was still bad. I really had high hopes for the movie, i admit it, i was one of those fans who checked Stephanie Meyer's website religiously for movie updates and counted down the days til the release. And Now? I've had alot of my hopes crushed, i had to laugh at the movie only because if i stop laughing i'm gonna start crying at how horrifyingly bad it was. It was the funniest movie i've seen that was never meant to be funny. I laughed throughout most of the movie, and made jokes when i wasn't laughing. The movie was incredibly fast paced and it felt as if the entire movie took place in a week. It was very rushed and poorly done. Also, upon checking SMeyer's website, her brother Seth wrote "...I can't think of one good book which had a movie made from it that was as good as the book" Uhm, Harry Potter anyone? Anyone at all? Just saying... :? And also, just because it can't be 'as good as the book', doesn't mean that it has the right to be so absolutely horrid. If i go to watch a dramatic vampire love story, i really don't expect to be laughing so hard my ribs hurt. Many, MANY crucial points and characters in the book did not occur in the movie. Such as the meadow scene, (they had something like the meadow scene, but atop a mountain-like structure instead, uh, random.) BEN was missing, yes that's right Ben wasn't in the movie. Correct me if i'm wrong, but who did Angela go to the prom with in the book? Oh right, lovable Ben. In the movie, she goes with Eric. o.O wait a second, so you can add two random characters that never existed in the book into the movie, (a teacher that replaced the biology teacher, and some guy who played santa when bella was 4, just to serve plot point purpouses) but you can't keep a reoccuring character? ......There's something very wrong with this film. Also, weird ooc moment, At one point where everyone goes down to La Push beach, the movie has angela talking about not having a date for the prom, Bella then has a line that goes roughly like "You're a strong independent woman, go and ask Eric to be your date" ......Uh, wow, i know there was some controversy about SMeyer being anti-feminist or something, but wow. I honestly said out loud "Feminist Bella, anyone?" in the theatre because it felt so forced. Another thing, The befriending of bella from, and bubbly personality of, alice was either not there or diluted entirely. And finally, Jaspers power was never mentioned or seen in action. O.O Moving on, as for the acting itself, I understand Bella was probably meant to look confused or blank (as mentioned above) but instead she came off all wrong. My bf and sister and i all joked that Bella had two facial expression the entire movie: Disgusted and Appalled. She looked as if her mother had been slapped, her father had been carjacked and her boyfriend killed, and then had to go to filming the next day. That was how bad her facial expressions were, i'm not exaggerating, she was like a robot. As for Edward, i'm sorry but the "rob effect" just didn't affect me. (Stephanie Meyer defines the rob effect, roughly, as: Disliking something, *such as Robert Patterson who played edward* at first but after watching it numerous times, soon growing to love it) Rob came off as a stalker and far too aggressive. I understand it was a movie and the actors were reading lines obviously, but it really felt like they were reading from a script. A move is supposed to be convincing, i'm supposed to belive this is happening. Instead it felt as if i' was watching someone's cheesy monologue. Not to mention, Rob's facial expressions too left much to be desired, My bf was sitting next to me watching it and kept leaning over to me every time Edward appeared asking me, "what's wrong with his face? No, seriously, what is wrong with his face?" Edward constantly looked as if he was going to either murder the lead role, or burst into tears at any moment. It was at the least, unnerving. Not to mention it was like edwards hair and jaspers hair looked like they had a life of their own. Kristen and Rob, good actors, i've seen them in other movies, they're good. But they were all wrong for twilight. They had little to no chemistry and clearly didn't belong together. In fact, the best actors in the movie were the bad guys, Laurent likely had about 3 lines in the movie, but Laurent was the best actor of all. He was convincing, he was real. Jacob, also did a great acting job, i have no complaints about him except his hair which was painfull to look at. Though for some odd reason, Sam looked like he was pushing 40. On a lighter note, the scenery was beautiful. The cullens house was goreous, the woods were refreshing to look at and the ballet studio was nicely done. I would suggest this movie to anyone who's looking for a good laugh, because that's all it is; one big disasterrific laugh-fest. End! ^__^ Last edited by Mab_Faerie : 11-24-2008 at 03:22 AM. |

| Servant of Faerie Queen! ![]() ![]() | Thank you, Miss Mab. It seems as though you have just saved me from wasting yet another one hundred twenty minutes of my life on a horrendously bad movie, which unfortunately I have done all too many times already. Of course, judging by that plot synopsis, I doubt that I could have imagined for very long that this film could be worth watching, anyway. I mean, come on, vampire vegetarians? Who came up with that? ^_^ |

Twilight is the first book in a series of 4. Although the 4th book was a disastrous as the movie, the other 3 books are amazing. It's a shame the movie (which is based off the first book) was such a disappointment to the twilight fan base.

Because that is who played Vincent the Vegetarian Vampire. Remember, The Electric Company was a kids' show where kids could learn even though everything around the learning was meant to be silly. Vegetarian vampires are a silly concept, so it fit right in. However, Meyer and her movie producers are asking us to take the concept seriously in Twilight. Just can't make the leap, myself...
