Hello!!

Hello,

I'm new to this place but not new to anime. I've been watching anime(on and off) since I was about age 3. Been collecting it (on and off, when I'm able to- due to bills, life,etc..) since 1988.

Back when I first started to collect it , the ways to get it was on bootlegged videos and or a badly dubbed and highly cut and edited domestic video release (sold at comic book stores or conventions, and sometimes also thru mail order). None of the local video stores hardly ever carried any anime.
The other way was to rent and copy from the japanese video store(or book store) if you where lucky to have one near you(did not find one until about 1996, in the city, I live out in the country: Use to go every week and copy whole tv shows "raw" recorded right off japanese tv. Did that untill I got married!!). Got to see a lot of shows before most people here even heard of them.

You could mention japanese anime and they would say "what the hell is that".

Well by about 1989 and 1990 animego and Books Nippan's US Rendentions(no longer in the video business) and Viz started to bring anime properly subbed and uncut and unedited to The USA. Streamline pictures(last I read no longer in business, correct me if I'm wrong) was bringing uncut and unedited dubs to the USA. Viz and a few other comic companies had already started to release manga here in the US. I collected a few graphic novels too.

I remember in 1994 when Media Play(out of business now) started to get really big, I walked in their and was amazed to see a row of nothing but anime, It was like a dream come true for anime fans(untill they jacked their prices up).

Now as you know anime and manga is for sale almost everywhere.

It's really neat to see a hobby that was not that popular back when I was younger to become very popular and too stay popular with a lot of people.

I don't collect everything that comes out, just the stuff that I like.

Now thanks to the internet (as we all know) we get to see fansubbed shows as they come out. I preferr subbed anime instead of dubs, unless in some rare cases the dub is awesome( perfect example Cowboy Bebop).

I also have been watching a lot of japanese and other asian live action movies and tv shows too. I finally have all the Godzilla movies (most are eng dub, a few are japanese with subs) on vhs,vcd and dvd. I plan on one day having them all in japanese with subs.

I like watching japanese sentai and also the Kamen rider tv shows(Kuuga,Agito,Ryuki,555,Blade,etc..)


I'm 34 years old, and enjoying my insanity!!! And 24 is my Lucky number!!!

I'm married to a short sexy vietnamese lady who is 36 and don't look a day over 17(from what others have told me). I'm slowly getting her into anime too, she loves City Hunter. But she spends most her time watching her collection of Chinese tv shows(dubbed in vietnamese).

I also got back into playing video games thanks to my mod chipped psx and my psx 2( gotta love the swap magic disc, I would love to have a mod chip for it, may be one day!!). I collect anime related video games from time to time.

For now I'm gonna try and seed(share) most the stuff I've downloaded from here as long as possible. I'm using an old computer for the net with only a 40 gb hd. I'll buy a new one later! I use bitcomet since it works good for me and also allows me to see what percentage that I'm uploading back. I don't blame the site here trying to keep up with what people share back( we all need to share stuff, even if it's just to continue seeding a file you just downloaded) it will help us all out in the end. The more we share the better sources we have to get the stuff that we all want to see.

I do have a new computer(about 3 years old now) I use it for video converting, home movies, making vcd and dvd, etc.. sometimes I put episodes to vcd, somtimes dvd, depends on my mood.
