Bleach Heat the Soul 4 is good.

I'd say if you are into some serious action based gaming here's the top tiers:
-Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
-Killzone: Liberation
-Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
-SOCOM FTB/FTB 2

For anime oriented, I played these and will definitely recommend:
-Bleach Heat the Soul 4
-Initial D
-Gundam Battle Royale

If you are feeling the beat:
-DJ Max Portable

If you want some serious fighters, like I do:
-Tekken: Dark Ressurection

I never played any RPG's on the PSP yet, I have the Final Fantasy Remakes but I already beat them on the NES and the PSX versions. I am still waiting for Crisis Core.

EDIT: And yeah, why stick with firmware 3.3? you can always update it. I do not know if you can with custom firmwares, but I use official Sony firmwares and I had no problem updating.
