I haven't bought a new computer in years. Mine just kinda evolves over time. It started as some low end off the shelf tan thing. Later, I added a Soundblaster 16, then a new HDD. Later still, I upgraded to a Pentium 200 and new motherboard to accomidate the new CPU, and a few weeks later got a CD Drive, then an Nvidia Geforce FX 5200 video card a few months after that.
In 2002 I upgraded to a Celeron 900 (agian, new motherboard to accomidate the CPU) and higher end RAM, then a few months later, replaced the HDD with a 120 gig drive and replaced the CD drive with a CD RW drive.
Year before last, I got a new tower for it, and early last year upgraded to Pentium 4 2.66 gHz (again, new motherboard with it) and 512 RAM (ddr400 I think) and just a few months ago, finally made the upgrade to WinXP.
So, my machine is a very motley device, with these current stats:
P4 2.66 gHz (think the motherboard is PC Chips)
512 DDR400 RAM
120 Gb HDD (is that eide or ata? I forget)
CD RW
Sound Blaster 16 PCI
nVidia GeForce FX 5200 PCI
Windows XP (though I made it look like Win98 still)
and that's about it for me
